  1. It most certainly requires a much more precisely timed shift 1-2. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  2. I wonder how fast the R would be on those same tires?
  3. Guess the R isn't faster, time I found posted for it was 8:14
  4. The clubsportS just posted the fastest fwd nurburgring time right? I believe that time is quite a few seconds slower than the R's time. So this is definitely a driver issue and not a car issue.
  5. Lol nope that is my bill for the fuel minus the first 350ish miles as the was the dealers tank. I do happen to live in one of the cheapest states to buy fuel in the US though. Not a burden on the wallet. Maybe $125 (£103)a month in fuel will be my average. Just shy of $225 in fuel this month though.
  6. My average since new to is 27.2 mpg just shy of 3k on the odometer now. That is with a just over 50 mile round trip to and from work on 80 mph interstate and over 6000 feet altitude. I'm getting 30-34 according to the instant while cruising 82-87 mph. Getting nearly 400 miles out of a tank of fuel. Drove to and from Salt Lake City Utah, just over 400 mile trip, and a loss and gain of 3000 ft of attitude on 12.9 gallons. So we averaged 31 mpg with 350 miles of highway driving and 60-75 miles of city driving on that tank of fuel. It is definitely improving with mileage.
  7. You are seeking aftermarket vs vw factory performance improvement parts and which is better and why? Because your objective is about to become very subjective if this is the case. If you want to know what parts should be replaced or modified to improve overall performance regardless of manufacturers you can get somewhere there without wet pants and shoes and sore feelers.
  8. You can get it out without removing the entire assembly. BUT if you bobble just a bit you are removing the whole thing to fish it out of the assembly as it can be dislodged the wrong way fairly easily. now to the useful tid bit: (I don't have any engineering or design data but this is my test and check discovery) It slows clutch movement entirely both disengage and engage. I tested this on the same stretch of road 1st through 4th full tilt. twice with, twice without- currently without. where you notice it the most is on "dump the clutch" launches and when "loading" the shifter on rapid shifts. My guess was for civility in function to the "normal" driver. For those of us that are capable with a manual we will likely find prolonged clutch life without this restriction. But for a driver that hasn't been fortunate enough to learn and know the joys a manual, this saves the clutch for chattering and undue wear due to inexperienced left leg. there is still what appears to be a "programming" issue with the throttle response. Since the engineers have established the rate of the clutch disengage re-engage rate, they programmed the throttle response to slightly lag the time to prevent upper gear clutch slippage and premature clutch failure. 2600ish miles on the odometer before doing this mod. As far as "stock" mods go, they don't get much easier than this. It took more time convincing myself the air box was really this easy to remove than it was to do the whole thing twice. Good luck, hope this helps put some worries to rest.
  9. I conceal carry, a level playing field favors the prepared.
  10. Just read all of your posts... Thank you! I mean THANK YOU! As I have very recently purchased mine this (story) has without a doubt confirmed my suspicions that this car will be a blast in all that I ask of it.
