    My Golf R does 35mpg mostly all the time. I must admit the performance gets boring for me after a while and I just Potter around in it. I have a 1 year old Porsche 911 Targa 4 and that does about the same too. For me the Golf R estate is the best car I have owned that’s not a Porsche. For overall value for money compared to my colossal depreciation suffered on BMW and Mercedes this car is great.

    Very happy with my White Silver Golf R Estate. The best car I have ever owned that’s not a Porsche..and I have owned plenty of BMW Audi and Mercs.

    Have used Pirellii Sottozeros previously as well as Michelin Alpine and these are by far the best. I believe this brand and tyre is very popular in the USA and used widely across Colorado and other colder states.

    I agree but actually look at how low profile modern SUV wheels and tyres have become ... very easy to Kerb.

    Having just covered almost 1000 miles from Hampshire to Cheshire then onto Newcastle and back to Hampshire in the last 72 hours, I cannot believe how good my Golf R is with these Nokian Tyres. I had them fitted to existing 235/35/R19 Rims On a mixture of motorways, A Roads, B Roads with all types of surfaces ranging from ice covered snow, deeper snow to slush, combined with the already excellent grip, these tyres will turn your Golf R into a car that will handle far better, safer and more predictably than any SUV 4X4. The already lower centre of gravity and chassis balance is outstanding combined with these tyres.

    I get 34 overall. Currently Golf R Estate is more thirsty than my 2017 Porsche 911 Targa 4 but not so practical. !!

    BMW struggling now. Mass produced and shocking residuals. VW quality better too. 1 series being replaced by new front wheel drive shortly.
