Anyone here a 7.5 owner had a go of a 8 and felt dissapointed? I had a go yesterday as my stealer doesn’t have a 8.5. I felt the 8 had no soul (sound isn’t near as good) and the shifts weren’t as quick as my 7.5, I like the outside of the 8 though but might have another go of another car

I like the contrast between the lapiz and the new diamond cut wheels but worried about them “worming”. Got diamond cut on my 7.5 and they are ruined by it with the salt on the roads we get up north!

Is it a mistake we can get a retractable towbar for the R now? I’m not planning pulling a trailer or anything but I’ve a 7.5 full spec Golf but I’ve recently really got into mountain biking and I can’t get a towbar for taking it on the go, so a towbar for that reason might help me justify getting a new one

I’ll give VW their due on one thing, including DCC and making the car cheaper is nice and very unheard of in the car industry

MK8s are going to massively tank when the 8.5 comes out, software and non touch sensitive buttons alone will do that

Can’t see it, the haptics are hated by majority and have hurt sales. They probs buttons but piano black and lit up

It was the same when the mk7.5 came out all the mk7 owners on here were up in arms saying it was crap haha. As a 7.5 owner I had a go of the 8R and was massively disappointed in the interior, maybe I’d get the hang of the controls but it simply wasn’t good enough imo. This seems a welcome move with proper buttons returning. There was no doubt the 8 handled slightly better than the 7.5 so I’m waiting and seeing the full production car before I jump ship. As much as we all bash VW At least they have listened to their customers, let’s wait and see the full car before we all go mental on here

As 7.5 pre WLTP owner (from new) I’m kinda glad I’ve not jumped onto the 8R going by the gremlins etc on here. I’ve been tempted a few times to change but I’ve managed to resist! Even volkswizard on YouTube was saying to me he can’t stand the new 8R. I think it’s a shame that such an amazing brand as VW has not looked after their customers and not fix these issues permanently. If there’s an 8.5R and it’s gremlin free with buttons on wheel etc it might make the 8R drop in value like crazy?

Yeah man, I’m wondering where I can buy the same as them front disks and pads. VW wanting £700 fitted and I doubt that is a decent price

, ive got exactly the same issue, car is less than 3 years old. did you eventually have any joy with VW or did you have to get it fixed yourself? If so how did they fix it?

Hi All wondering if anyone can give me advice on how to use this product? I've tried it and not impressed at all but im wondering if im using it wrong, I apply it then buff it off just afterword? planning washing then polishing then applying this this afternoon any advice would be greatly appreciated

the akrapovic is a fantastic option IMO and it transforms the car in terms of sound, I've had two golf r's and I was never happy with the first ones noise. So it was a must pick for me and I have to say I'm delighted with it, launching, and downshifts are mega! youtube vids don't do the akra justice, I've got to agree with someone else on here, if you don't have it you will all say its crap but you haven't heard it in person have you? its all personal opinions but I urge you to go hear one first!

I agree with all the above comments regarding the 10 bhp it will make very little difference. The biggest advantage with the 7.5 is still the 7 speed box it’s so much better in terms of speed and economy. My only concern would be the sound, my 7.5 is so much louder than the 7 (does help I have Akrapovic) but I’d be gutted if they removed the pops and bangs

I’ve noticed if you in S on the dsg you have to select race again on the modes to get the pops on downshifting it’s really strange have to keep doing it

7.5 defo is different engine noise in individual has to be set on race for the proper bangs on the exhaust (Akrapovic) also so I have to reselect race on startup as even if dsg in S it doesn’t pop on downshifts etc until I reselect race. I was wondering is anyone knew if i were to change the soundakor volume via OBD11 if that would keep the pops and bangs or would it stop it like putting engine sound on eco?

Ahh even on the 7.5? I used to do this on my 7 Golf r manual but didn’t think need to do that with dsg golf r 7.5
