I had the "coolant pump and housing" (#cmf-1132200033) replaced at under 50k miles at an independant Dec 2024 and it was £750 all in.

Are you able to share the breakdown of costs for the service above please?

The DSG chrome surround on my MK7.5 R has split and is coming away. I've found the following: https://track-hack.com/en-gb/products/mk7-7-5-dsg-chrome-shifter-surround-rhd but does anyone know the specific VW part number (Not sure how trust worth track-hack-com is so would like to look at other genuine options)? It looks fairly easy to replace, has anyone here replace theirs? If I grab one of my climate controls (e.g. auto or the temp dial) I can wobble the whole section left to right a reasonable amount. I assume this just needs tightening somewhere?

My understanding is that the DQ381 (in the mk 7.5) has a 80k service interval with no time limitation. I questioned this at my last service, as I thought it might be 40k, but they confirmed with 2 seperate people that it was 80k.

I've had this a dozen or so times (no tuning, just the update). For me, it happens when pulling away when the the car is cold, it'll hang on to 1st gear until 3-4k, but does eventually change. Hasn't really concerned me, but I don't think I ever experienced it pre-update.

I've had a rev issue since I purchased the car a couple of years ago. When coming to a stop, sometimes the revs drop a little too much (then bounce back up) resulting in vibration in the seat. It never stalls but it doesn't feel great. It's even worse without the AC on as obviously the revs drop even lower. Sounds a bit different to yours, but thought I'd share.

I think this is normal based on the research I did when I purchased my 7.5R. However, I would be interested to hear from others and also find out if there's a way to minimise it. Doesn't look great....

No issues with mine, still drops to idle in Eco when coasting.

Mine is the same as above, I thought the same as you that something had happened. I also really like the screw poking out, great finish VW... very premium.

Had the DSG software updated. No issues so far or any immediate errors. Feel like it's changing up sooner than before and likes to be in the 1.3k-1.6k rpm range when in normal (bit low for my liking). Nothing major to write home about though. Idle might be ever so slightly higher, but that may be due to the extreme heat we're seeing at the moment. Spoke to the guy at the garage and asked if they were aware of any issues from the update and he said mine was the first one they had done- or at least that he was aware of.

There is a problem, the older software versions cannot detect a specific condition/issue with the gearbox. I guess the question is, can it just be ignored? Or will it end in catastrophic gearbox failure.

Has anyone seen any comments around the changes after the update has been applied? Specifically ones similar to the ones on the thread below? A little confused to those are that "downgrading" the software. The software simply tells you if there's an issue with your gearbox, so downgrading the software is like mapping out an error. Seems a bit, odd? I'm in for the recall next week under extended warranty, but having a few doubts! https://www.volkswagenforum.co.uk/threads/23x4-software-update-gearbox-fault-code.39907/page-3 The 3 driving profiles have been completely recalibrated. Effectively sport mode has been removed. (@Solbay has mentioned this) Previously I would have ranked each profile as: Eco = 2/10.....Normal = 5/10.....Sport = 10/10 Now I would rank the profiles as: Eco = 1/10.....Normal = 3/10.....Sport = 5/10

I'm booked in for the week after next for the software update. Will update. Any else booked in or had it done?
-
Does anyone know if updating the DSG Control Unit will also perform a "DSG Reset"? If not, do you think if I ask VW to perform once they will whilst it's in?
-
I also enquired today and have been booked in for the software update. They said they'd need the car all day which I found odd! I queried the reason for the recall and it matches what you have put above essentially. The only extra information he added was a "limited run" of the 7 speed gearbox. I've checked a friends R VIN (19 plate) and his did not show as part of the recall. I wonder if this only affects early 17/18 plate 7.5 Rs? For those will in the warranty period / extended warranty I suggest you get booked in as soon possible.

I enquired today, That was the only link I could find that accepted my UK VIN. Can confirm it showed my vehicle was part of the recall.
-
If you go to https://www.volkswagen-bahrain.com/en/owners.html#vin-lookup it will accept a UK VIN. Mine is showing the same recall as the OP. I currently have extended warranty so now would be a good time to get this done, in case it does show a fault with the DSG. Right?!
-
I receive the following if I try to do a recall lookup "This is not a recognizable Volkswagen VIN. Please check your VIN and try again" https://www.vw.com/en/recalls.html

Interesting thread https://www.volkswagenforum.co.uk/threads/23x4-software-update-gearbox-fault-code.39907/page-2

Mine is also 2017, is the software update free on the DSG? If so I might ring my local VW garage tomorrow. Did they say when the software update became available, is it very recently?
-
What year is your R? Very interested to hear any more details on this. My local VW garage have my details but they're pretty useless.

If you have your Golf serviced at a main dealer is this part of the service (and included in a minor/major service) or is a cost update? I'm sure I read on here somewhere that they charged £80-90 to update the infotainment system.
-
Did they say when the software update came out? Anyone have access to the revisions and potential fixes/changes?
-
Good to know, plugs were on my list of things to change.

7 speed (2017).
