  1. Hi guys, I’ve used the search function and only got 1 hit for this topic and that was for rep wheels, I’m trying to get 4 new OEM centre caps for my Pretorias, I’ve already ordered the wrong ones “3B7 601 171” at nearly £40 I don’t want to order another set without a 100% Guarantee they’ll fit, I’d prefer the entire cap not just the emblem sticker too! Someone must have a link, google is a minefield.
  2. Finally, after 3 weeks from the time I placed my order at VW, I’ve had the 18 inch Sterling Silver Pretorias fitted with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 rubber (225/40 R18 92Y XL). I’ve always been on the fence about the 18 inch Cadiz wheels whereby some days I’ll love them and the next I’ll dislike them - I don’t seem to be the only one that has this opinion either. However, I’ve always loved the Pretoria design and I am a fan of keeping my cars looking relatively OEM. After finding out that sourcing 19 inch Pretorias from VW would cost over £3000, I knew this was not going to be an option for me. However! When I was given the option from VW for 18 inch Pretorias priced at £1000, I was shocked because I had never come across an 18 inch version before. After doing some initial research, I didn’t find much at all other than getting some help from the lovely folk over on this thread (http://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/19435-sourcing-pretoria-alloys/) Thanks guys! After biting the bullet and deciding to order them, here they are! (w/ some before shots too!) First impressions? Personally, I absolutely love them. The Sterling Silver colour is brighter compared to the 19 inch version and the size difference is pretty negligible, in my opinion. I’d love to see what other people’s thoughts are on the colour difference and size difference between the 18 and 19 inch versions. I’ve made this a separate thread to my initial post to help anybody that may be looking to purchase these in the future. If this has helped anyone in any way make a decision on whether they would like to purchase these or not, then I’m happy I have been able to help! Let us know if this has swayed you either way! I couldn’t be more over the moon with them and I think they have completely transformed the look of the car vs the Cadiz wheels. If anybody decides to grab themselves a set, I would love to see some pictures with them on different colours and ride heights! Oh and, any recommendations on wheel sealants?
  3. Recently bought my mk7 golf r, much prefer the look of 19 inch pretorias over the 18 inch cadiz. If anyone is selling any gloss black pretorias in 19 inch please let me know, or put me into contact with someone you know who is selling them. Thanks,
  4. Fellas, Might be a daft question but I can't get my head round it... Im planning on changing from my 18" Cadiz alloys to some 19" Prets in the next month or so. Will the car be 1/2 an inch higher off the ground with the extra inch added to the alloys? If thats the case, then are all 7R's who have Prets from the factory running half an inch higher than the Cadiz boys? Or will there be no different and why?
  5. I've had my R Estate now for a month or so and am really starting to love it. The minor thing niggling at the back of my mind however is the ride... I wasn't fortunate enough to find an R on the used market with the spec I wanted; I did originally want an estate with a few options, but the cadiz wheels due to the smaller size, cheaper tyres and better ride quality.. this was almost impossible to find as most cars with options typically also had prets, not cadiz, so I went for a car with the 19" prets but some of the other options that I wanted in the end. Most of the time I've found the ride quality not too bad on the 19", despite the fact of not having DCC, but there are some fairly bumpy roads around me which weren't too bad on my old A3 with 18", but can be quite unforgiving on the 19" which have got me thinking. I'll admit that the car certainly looks better with the prets on, but I've seen estates with cadiz and they don't look bad to me either (with the exception of the pain of repairing diamond cut wheels). I'm planning on keeping the car for at least 4-5 years, but I'm in two minds with what to do with the wheels. I know that retrofitting DCC isn't possible, which leaves swapping the wheels out as probably the easiest option, as whilst adjustable coilovers from what I can see are available, these are designed to plug into the DCC system on the car (which mine lacks). Also what would happen to the suspension/wheel gap if I swapped to the smaller wheels - would it take a few days for it to adjust? (And I know swapping tyres is an option, but I'm running Dunlop SportMaxx, which are a fairly good tyre, not as hard at the bridgestones that everyone complains about). The other niggle for me is what happens when I eventually sell on the car, as you can trace the original spec of the car and it would be listed as having pretorias fitted. Even if I swapped to cadiz (which are OEM), what would he impact be on the resale potential of the car and cost, as it would deviate from spec? I've posted this here and not in the sale/wanted section as I'm still deciding what to do...
  6. Hello VWROC! Picking up my 2015 VW Golf R DSG on Friday and couldn't be happier with my choice. After years of mediocre JDM cars I've decided to treat myself to something a little more special! I've been an active member of every car marque forum relevant to my car history thus far and intend on being an integral part of this one too! I already have a few plans for the R, starting small with a lip kit (triplercomposites kit looks tasty) all the way up to potentially a stage 2 within the next few years of ownership. All advice on tasteful modifications are welcome! If you see me around don't hesitate to give me a honk and a wave, the car will probably be under the reg plate guise of G2EEY. 😀
  7. Hello VWROC! This Friday (23rd) I'll be collecting this gorgeous Night Blue Golf R from Parkways VW in Leicester. Spec wise it's fairly basic unfortunately... no satnav, no DCC, no sunroof. It does have a few nice extras like a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors (not sure if all Rs have this?) and most importantly to me, those Pretorias coupled with the Night Blue paint! 😍 To describe my car history very briefly, this will be my first non-JDM car! 3 x Toyota Corollas including the T-Sport Compressor (290bhp to the front wheels, had some traction issues!), 1 x Track Civic EP3 and 2 x Honda Accords which have been my latter 2 cars! Parkways VW have been excellent so far! I have been dealing with a lovely lass called Gemma who has been sending me regular emails with pictures (of the car!) as it's been prepped to the Das Welt Auto standard and had imperfections and defects rectified such as kerbing to 3 of the alloys courtesy of the last owner! Any queries have been answered promptly and the whole experience has been pretty smooth which has been nice! I must admit that I've been stalking the forum for the last month or so whilst searching for the right car to pop up and have learnt so much already, thank you! I already have a few plans for the car such as the triplercomposites lip kit and a bloody good detail as I know the dealer has given the car a valet (swirl marks ahoy!) In the long term I'd like to take the car up to around a safe 400bhp through the means of a stage 2 and other upgrades. Any advice or suggestions for tasteful modifications both performance and non-performance would be greatly appreciated! Suppose I better add a few pics! (2010 Honda "Henry" Accord Type-S is the trade in mule) (The exhaust tips were polished up as I made it known that I wasn't happy with their standard shown in the other pictures and Parkways VW were on the case immediately!)
  8. Hi, Had my eye on this forum for a while, helped me choose my car- I've gone for a DSG Lapis MK7 Golf R, with the Pretorias, the big nav and the toasty bum pack. Test drove a MK6 before deciding on this one, and while the 6 was awesome, the 7 just feels to be in a different class altogether (just my opinion, don't mean to offend any 6 owners!) And Launch Control made me giggle like a girly girl! Dan
  9. Hi guys, This is my first time posting on the forum so apologies if this is in the wrong section! Been checking out the members rides page for a while now so thought it was about time I signed up! I placed an order for a Pure White, 3 door, DSG Golf R back in February of this year - the only other extras I added were 19" Pretorias and the ProNav. Since that time I have had no movement on the order tracker (still at stage 2) and my dealer has been less than helpful to say the least. Whenever I call they tell me that there is another delay on my order - they have never given an exact reason but I'm told it is 'most likely the alloys because all other cars with standard 18" Cadiz alloys are coming through fine' Has anyone else experienced this? I've looked at the thread with all the Golf R orders and most seem to be delivered around the 6 month mark. I'm being told by my dealer I'll be lucky to get mine by October/November (9 month wait)!! Any information would be great, thanks!
