What detailing stuff have you bought today

I wouldn't use a DI purifier to feed a pressure washer, as there's always a risk of granules of the resin getting through to the pressure washer and either damaging the pump or being fired at your paintwork at high pressure.

My AVA pressure washer has an in-line filter, but even so I wouldn't use it for anything other than an open-hose rinse.

Anyway, using a pressure washer is the stuff of dreams right now.  I probably won't be able to use it until about February.

I never had any issues on that score with DI resin getting into the water stream.  My Kranzle pressure washer has a very good filter that stops anything getting through.

So, it took 4 years but we’ve come full circle 🙂

I bought my Worx Hydroshot on 2022 since I have no AC or water near the car.

Mine is lower in pressure (purposefully, to avoid PPF ripping)

What you have is a much stringer version

Im not sure it will foam great (you need high flow rate for that)

but you have the iK eFoam if you want thick foam.

Nothing will be like a true high flow rate high pressure washer

But we all have restrictions to adhere by

I hope you like the hydroshot
iam already a  Worx-oholic and have multiple devices based 8n their battery series (high pressure blower, vacuum, drill/driver, compressor, and of course hydroshot)

Yes!  Here we are using almost the same set up.  😄 The Worx is a good little machine and needs must in these times, but it’s a significant drop in pressure compared to the real deal.  Still, it’s better than nothing.  I washed the car at the weekend and used the IK e-foamer for snow foam, as it’s more consistent than using a lance with the Worx.  All in all the combination worked pretty well.

Biggest problem with the worx is flow rate

You can’t get enough L/hr with it to get a nice water curtain to carry away the foam or shampoo

Speaking of which, I must wash mine, as it has so much dust baked onto it.

Maybe this weekend, if I find the time and energy.

Exactly.  Just means a bit more effort and time persevering pushing the water and suds off the panels, particularly the horizontal panels, but for what it is it’s a good machine.

Fingers crossed the planets align and a car wash is on the agenda. 🙂

Today it happened

Loving the iK eFoam 2, what an amazing job it does.

Snow foam: GYEON Foam
shampoo Gyeon PPF Wash
finish: Gyeon PPF Maintain

I applied the shampoo with the iK as well

used the medium nozzle (grey) and then agitated it
For the foam I used the small nozzle (green) for fluffiness

Looks clean enough 🙂

Morning all.  (It's morning here, anyway.  You can, however, read this post at any time of the day).

A couple of days ago I was perusing Clean Your Car (other detailing suppliers/enablers are available) as I'm almost out of Garage Therapy wheel shampoo.

They didn't have any in stock, so I was aimlessly cruising the site and came across this:

https://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/bilt-hamber-phat-neut-rinseless

Reading the description, and in the context of the current hosepipe ban, it seemed like a good idea, and I like Bilt Hamber products, particularly their wheel cleaner, snow foams and clay bars, so I took the plunge.

It arrived yesterday, and I hope to use it later today.  I'll let you know.

Let us know how you find it. Good be a good option for these water restricted times and if not replace full bucket wash, be a good in-between option.

What are you going to use it on?  One of the special sponges you can get for use with rinseless wash or something else?

I’ve have Optimum No Rinse (rinseless wash) but I tend to use it just as an aid by adding a capful to the shampoo wash bucket, to help reduce swirls and marring (it can reduce suds but largely they have no bearing on the effectiveness of a good shampoo).

As expected with Bilt Hamber, it's a no-nonsense product that works.

I applied some diluted in my IK sprayer, one panel at a time, without pre-rinsing, then did a two-bucket wash with a wash mitt, and rinsed with a watering can.  The wash process felt really slick, and the result (I dried each panel aft I rinsed it) produced a good shine, without any smearing or hazing on a very warm, humid day.

Overall, I'm impressed, and on the basis that we're going to be under a hosepipe ban for the foreseeable future, I'll carry on using it.  As a shampoo, it doesn't produce much (if any) lather, and the water in the rinse bucket became cloudy, whereas the wash bucket water remained clear.  The instructions stress the need to keep agitating the water, implying that the Fat Newt doesn't dissolve completely, but that's the nature of this type of product.  I'm always reluctant to believe claims that any "rinse-less/waterless" wash product can effectively "encapsulate" surface contamination particles and prevent them from being ground into the paintwork, but this seems to make the best of a bad situation.

Nothing is ever perfect, but the alternatives in the current climate, it's a viable option.

Thanks for the update.  Used in that manner, it sounds more like a pre-wash or wash aid as opposed to a true rinseless wash product.  But maybe it can be used as the latter too?  I think Forensic Detailing has done some videos about it.

If it helps in the water restriction times then all good!

Where did you get these from, Bec?  I'm going to need some more wheel shampoo before long, although I might see how BH's Phat Neut works on wheels first.

I got them from Clean and Shiny Ian.  I think the 1L wheel shampoo is now out of still though.
