monkeyhanger
Is it me or are VW now making an effort to over-estimate delivery times for newer customers? Is this a ploy to get out of providing courtesy cars/ vouchers etc? The BS I was fed by VW UK yesterday demonstrates that they are trying hard to manage customers expectations into thinking that an R comes with a "normal" 34 week (8 month) wait now when you call up with a wait that has been over 6 months. sbp
Best bet is to get a delivery week (best you can) from your dealership (or lease company) and work on that. If it exceeds that then you can argue you have been misled etc. Myself and three of my friends all were told to put our cars up for sale at a certain point - mine was sold in perfect timing but two of my friends waited an extra 7 weeks longer for collection so were without a car - hence being provided with a courtesy car. mikeoz
Well I signed the paperwork yesterday and it's being valeted today. .Not by vw...and I collect tomorrow. .It's been a long painful and unfortunate wait thanks to vw logistics. I'm sure with out the intervention of Ian Plummer it would still be in Emden.. Roll on Thursday.
ChrisSimm
I spoke to Susan yesterday at CVL and she was great, really trying to push my car through the UK Port, she mentioned that she was speaking to someone in VW (I think it was John) and apparently he's quite high up with a lot of connections and apparently may be able to get my car out of the port and into the dealership. In saying that, i received a text and an email this morning saying that my car has moved onto Stage 6 of 7, GREAT! Only problem with that is, i received that same email 2 weeks ago... A glitch in the system or do you think they might be doing something to get my car moved? JustCallMeMac
After ordering mid-February and being told by the dealer to expect delivery late April / May due to build allocation already being in the system, (which swayed my decision to purchase), things have gone a bit 'Pete Tong.' Since it quickly became clear that I'd been spun a 'bit of a yarn,' the estimated build week has moved from 16 to 18 to 22 to 25, back to 24 and now, as of this morning, out to week 29, (w/c 13 July), which according to the dealer, is down to the model-year updates, although I fail to see how this suddenly adds 5 weeks to the build date. I'll therefore be lucky to see the vehicle before mid to late August, 6 months after order, which seems to be what many are now either experiencing or just finding out about and sometimes even worse. Needless to say the dealer was happy to cancel my order and refund my deposit but I'll wait it out and chill as the R still ticks all of my lifestyle boxes and will prove a jack of all trades, (and at the price point I'm happy with), which is what my current R32 (MKV) has consistently done over years, despite its quirks and thirst for V-Power! It's still extremely disappointing though as you can't help but get excited as the weeks count down, only to be repeatedly kicked in the teeth and deflated as the reality becomes clear. VW certainly don't follow the mantra of exceeding customer expectations by 'under-promising and over-delivering,' in fact they are achieving the exact opposite at the moment, with a few exceptions! They are just very lucky that there isn't really a direct, good quality, AWD, 'hatchback' competitor available, at similar cost, on the basis that the Audi and Mercedes equivalents cost a fair few quid more either in base spec or certainly once the nice-to-have options are added. It would be interesting to see how VW would respond in terms of order production and customer service if many of us had the option of defecting from the brand out of protest and placing our business elsewhere. They've got us pretty much firmly by the balls as a result. The commercial and critical success of the MK7 has clearly been to the customer's detriment so I only hope the wait is worth it in the end. Now completely understand how frustrated and indeed angry many of you must be feeling. Cheers, Mac. Edited May 20, 2015 by JustCallMeMac

monkeyhanger
I have had a phonecall from my salesman today. He rang up VW UK to have a moan at them, only for them to say it is on the City of Amsterdam. His system doesn't show that it is on the ship, and the customer's tracker for stage 5 hasn't changed from "3 weeks to delivery" (as is the case for 5b), nor have I had a 5c text. Hopefully i'll have a stage 6 text tomorrow afternoon (or does that happen after the car has cleared customs rather than when the ship is unloaded? Can't remember.). Anyway - he's quietly confident of a midweek pick-up next week. Roadbuster and leonmac

Good stuff man, when did you order? And your car has Pretoria's doesn't it? I'm currently sitting on BW 28 (unconfirmed) but I won't pop any champagne till I hear it's confirmed! I really hope it doesn't slip back. Typically, does a car move around weeks a lot before getting confirmed? How soon prior to the actual BW do they actually get locked into that week? You will get a confirmed BW 4 weeks before the car will get built. If your BW28 gets confirmed, you will hear about it on the Friday of BW24. Maybe now the glut of cheap lease cars are done, the estimations of BW will be a bit more stable. I wonder if anyone can confirm if the R Estate is built at Wolfsburg rather than Zwickau? There are a lot of cheap Estate leases doing the rounds right now that may slow retail orders down (but they will have only just ordered).

And yes prets on mine , personally , not a fan of Cadiz wheels. Dealer said they move bw around slightly but not massive. (This is contradicted by real owners on here though) but either way I don't mind even if it does get pushed back slightly. From the test drive I did there is no better car for the money, worth the wait !
GrayMK7R
I've called VW customer services today and mine has been massively affected by the MY2016. . . Original BW: 32, then went down to BW27, today I'm on BW44 Guy I spoke to seem to think BW will improve as it settles down, and recommended I call back next week

Awesome That means they will all come back off holiday, refreshed, ready to build my 7r with no off coloured panels, misaligned doors, software updated, no creaks bangs, no metallic soundaktor. Hope they all have a good break. Very important car to build when you get back chaps
