thanksabunch
Upon looking at replacement tyres for my R I have realised that is appears Bridgestone actually do a couple different types of the S001 the main difference being that one is B rated wet grip and the other is A rated! this has me thinking that maybe the people saying they are poor in wet are indeed using the B rated ones! I have always highly rated my S001's for last 2 years so can only assume I'm on the A's unless I'm missing something different in the description! links below - https://www.camskill.co.uk/m61b0s134p119484/Bridgestone_Tyres_Car_Bridgestone_S001_Potenza_Bridgestone_S_001_-_225_40_R18_92Y_XL_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_E_Wet_Grip%3A_B_NoiseClass%3A_2_Noise%3A_72dB https://www.camskill.co.uk/m61b0s134p127401/Bridgestone_Tyres_Car_Bridgestone_S001_Potenza_Bridgestone_S_001_-_225_40_R18_92Y_XL_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_E_Wet_Grip%3A_A_NoiseClass%3A_3_Noise%3A_73dB
Stobsie
Do yourself a favour and ditch the idea of Bridgestones truely awful IMHO, you'll do far worse than fitting a set of Uniroyals rainsport 3's. I've had a couple of sets of these now and rate them highly just a shame they don't do them in 21" ☹️ https://www.camskill.co.uk/m61b0s134p111670/Uniroyal_Tyres_Car_Uniroyal_RainSport3_Uniroyal_Rain_Sport_3_-_225_40_R18_92Y_XL_FR_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_C_Wet_Grip%3A_A_NoiseClass%3A_2_Noise%3A_72dB
Lew
+1 for Rainsport 3’s. I’d say cheap and cheerful but they are better than that.

Having owned 30+ cars and tried virtually all the branded tyres I would disagree about the Bridgestone's being awful, good all rounder and very predictable handling A branded tyre that is shocking are the pirelli p zeros Uniroyal hard to beat for the price tho especially when they are essentially just continentals with different branding

Stobsie
Again a very subjective topic and one mans apples is another mans oranges. I totally agree with you regarding the Pirellis have them on mine at the moment and they really don't inspire any sort of confidence especially now the temps have dropped I'm even considering dropping down to 20" so I have a better choice of tyre. Yes agree completely mate I binned my Pirelli's off with 5mm remaining I disliked them that much was set for goodyear F1 asymmetric 3's until I realised they have no rim protection whatsoever unsure about the Michelin ps4 for rim protection also they aren't cheap can get the Bridgestone's locally for around £80 each

I ran the AS3's and they were fantastic, didn't find the rim protector to bad but I was on 19's.

robdfr
Tyres are horses for courses. For my lease car the brdigestones ticked all the boxes I wanted , fair amount of grip and hard wearing , changed fronts at 22k and rears at 26k. It all depends what you want from your tyre , some are better in dry conditions and vice versa , if you want a tyre that does both equally well then they cost more. Add in side wall strength and rim protectors and they cost more again. Also bear in mind what might be a good 18" tyre maybe be completely different as a 19" tyre If you just go A to B then bridgestones or Uniroyal will do the job , if you want to hoon it around a little more then look at goodyear or Michelins
Lew
Forgot to mention, the Uniroal Rainsport 3’s have little sharks etched into the side walls. Which I like a lot! Stobsie
Grant
I personally don't like the Potenzas too, been on mine since new and they're coming to the end of their life now - really rubbish in the cold mornings and greasy roads.. On my R32 I tried; Michelin Pilot sport 3, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3, Michelin pilot sport 4. F1 Asymmetric 2s were the best closely followed by PS4s! Going PS4s for the R after Christmas is over. Can't wait! Lew

Michelin's naming conventions can be quite confusing, particularly when talking about plurals for names that already end with an "S". Another "Sport"? Pilot Sport 4 Sport? Super? Believe they use to be called PSS no?
