Hi trying to put stop start back on changed the voltage back to 7.8v but it's not working just get the A with line through it . On a 19 plate wltp. Thanks 👍

Iirc default voltage is 7.6 but that’s an aside.  When you alter the voltage number from your current setting, does the OBDeleven accept the change?  Are you getting acknowledgement of that on the OBDeleven app?

Yes sorry I did put it back to 7.6v and it says accepted and when you go back into it it says 7.6v might need a few hours for car to sleep. Thanks 👍

It should action the change pretty much straight away (whether it’s 7.6 or 7.8 as default).  I’ve reverted mine back to standard default a few times (when I was dealing with a battery issue) and it worked straight off on restarting the car.  Off course there are still other non OBDeleven conditions that need to be met in order for Stop Start to activate (as per user manual) so perhaps that might have had a bearing?

Is your battery fully charged ?  If it is low on charge the car will disable stop/start itself to protect the battery.

I’m thinking of trying to disable stop/start on my mk7.5 (March 2019 WLTP ) as it’s the first thing I always do whenever I get in the car and it’d be nice not having to do it every time.

I’ve got OBDeleven PRO so will try via long coding.

When SS is disabled via OBDeleven, does the LED in the SS button always reflect it’s disabled status?

And I presume pressing the SS button has no effect on anything once disabled via OBD (no messages appear or LED changes in the button)?

Once you’ve disabled SS with OBDeleven, it doesn’t automatically light up the SS LED button, that remains unlit (unless you press it), so doesn’t reflect the deactivated status.  However, if you toggle the stop start button it will still light up if pressed (to deactivate), and go out if pressed again (to activate) even though nothing actually takes effect or changes as the coding has overridden the function.  And when pressed, the message to say SS is deactivated/activated still appears on the DIS momentarily even though it’s coded out and permanently inactive.  You will get a crossed out A symbol permanently showing on the DIS in any drive mode (as opposed to just when the gearbox is in S or car is in Race) as you’ve disabled it. That does annoy some people but can’t say it bothers me at all.  Thats how it is on mk7 and I think it’s the same for 7.5.

Thanks for the detailed info Bec.

I guess that makes sense as I presume as far as the car is concerned, SS has not been disabled as such, you’ve just simply tweaked a parameter that ensures that the criteria required for SS to kick is never actually met.

So tweaking that voltage threshold up to 12v doesn’t have any undesirable side-effects?

Exactly.

I’ve not experienced any undesirable effects with it disabled via the voltage method, and mines been that way for a few years now.  I don’t recall reading about any adverse effects either.   Give it a go Marcus, it’s very easily undone if you decide you’d rather have it back to standard and use the button.  But once you’ve deactivated it, you can just completely forget about it.

Great, thanks.

I’m going to have a go at it with OBDeleven tomorrow. I read on here that there have been mixed results with some of the later WLTP models, with it not working but it did work for someone with a March 2019 car (same as mine) so fingers crossed 🤞

I’m also going to enable the fan lights on auto while I’m at it.
