And continues. Useful articles re problems I post it up..an solutions. Endless tips and hacks. Nearly all from VWROC. Or if found elsewhere I post it up😂 I think I qualify for an Anorak badge. The same questions and problems seem to reappear, time and time again on the site - from new owners of course. I wish I’d visited/ joined earlier, as I would have ordered mine slightly differently. - but I just assumed that to Join you’d need to own an R🙄 The knowledge and advice from experienced, friendly and helpful owners really is Gold dust. The added bonus is. The chat and the fun.. I need to sort my R Folder into smaller sub folders......might save this for Bad Weather days. You’ve definitely earned your own anorak, badge Neil (meant in a nice way). In any case, I don’t keep folders, I just store it in my head. There’s nothing else in there so plenty of room. 😂 A great plus of forums over fast paced blink-and-you-miss-it social media platforms is that built up knowledge base that becomes a historical record and provide great info past and present. Forums offer that over the likes of FB et all, a searchable (to those who are interested and care) resource and virtual encyclopaedia of info and knowledge (not all fact or accurate of course , but what is on the internet!). And importantly, tried and tested (sometimes failed) things shared by real people. Although the search facility on here can be a bit of a hit and miss affair, all the info is there and if you’re organised and meticulous like yourself, easy to bookmark or file for reference at some future point. I think some do think you need to have an R before you join but definitely not! I joined before I got my R though I lurked for a long time. But it gets expensive even before you’ve ordered or bought the car on here either as a fully signed up member or a lurker! It’s a great community though despite its ability to deplete the bank account! NRW and mpv

Then say, oh well it’s different if it’s about your Car.😂 Good point, too.Respect Rebecca for keeping all the stuff in your head - mine Hard drive is full I think, and available RAM more limited. 😂. I don’t do FB, but was a quiet member of GTI OC, and quip now and then on YT. But security / privacy online is a concern, having had email, PayPal and Ebay accounts compromised before. Im firmly of the view that the VWROC is a great addition when owning an R, older or newer, whatever your preferences - it Adds greatly to the pleasure. DustyBones
Hmmmm from what I can see, that's not the heavy duty one but just the regular one? Ideal time to upgrade, protect that plastic sump.👍 neilybealy
Wagon R
I’ve had the (£50) fleabay full length one fitted to mine for 3+ years and it’s more than earned its keep - starting to get a little ragged around the front edge, but it’s not hanging yet and is all you need for peace of mind. neilybealy
neilybealy
Took it to the garage this afternoon and not only have I ripped off most of the cover but the heat shield further back has been ripped as well 🤦♂️ Wagon R

I’ve been down a few badly rutted roads locally in previous cars and when I realised to sump was plastic I knew I had to protect the underside better than the factory saw fit to. I feel bad for you. 😩 neilybealy
neilybealy
thanks, lesson learnt 😬 It was a really narrow country road after all this crap weather and I didn't realise it was that bad. Hey ho I won't do that again 🤪 Wagon R
Wagon R
All that being said & looking on the brighter side, the full length undertray won’t reach as far back as the exhaust/drive tunnel, so you still would have damaged to heatshield anyway. 😁 edit: don’t know why spellchecker keeps changing “the” to “to”. 😁 neilybealy
neilybealy
Yeh exactly. There’s still a load of mud as well he said it is caked Wish we had taken my wife’s X4 now 🙄😂 Wagon R
