I work on the outskirts Manchester City centre but I am off for a couple of weeks now and unfortunately live a fair few miles away from you 😫. 
 

my parents live in Altrincham which isn’t a million miles away from you so if I am heading that way I will let you know…. Keep posting so I can pm you ha ha

I've yet to see a mk8 R in the flesh let alone drive one  the only time I've been in the dealership in the last year has been for my 7.5's service (and again to have it valued) & they had no mk8 R on site. Like Rebecca - I took the plunge in February without having driven or seen one (not that I condone this sort of 'blind faith' behaviour).

...I dare say the first I'll see will be my own!

I am in Derbyshire. Work a lot in Buxton, Glossop  and Leek area's (Not a million miles from Machester or Congleton) as we have building sites going off in these area's. Happy to meet you if you are still struggling and let you test drive mine.

Got a road test booked for a 135i on Friday.
Need to drive one before deciding if it’s one of those or a mk8 R or clubsport 45
Doesn’t seem to be any mk8 stuff around here to road test

The exact same route as me, I've  test drove the BMW m135i, test drove the Leon cupra, i30n just want to test drive the mk8 r and struggling. The other cars were ok but the GFV on all but the BMW were rubbish meaning that payments were high or higher than would be for the golf which is more money. Which is pushing me more to the Golf

I also fancied a road test in a Megane RS trophy but nobody has any of them either!
I kind of grudge the £40k tax rip off, neither the R or clubsport 45 can be had without the premium tax.
