I don't know where the microphone is on the Golf, but some years ago My mk2 tt had similar probs. The mic was in the overhead box behind the rear view mirror. I was discovered that some had been fitted on the left hand side at the factory (for lhd cars) once it was swapped over problem solved. Might be worth a check.

Can anyone tell me which button on the steering wheel I press to answer a call. If I press the "phone" icon it cuts the call off.

Just to let you know, I have just renewed my insurance and took it with LV. They will now cover the R without a tracker. £215 fully comp. Now I know I have had no claims for many tears and a completely clean licence but still think thats pretty good.

Just had my my16 in for its 2nd service. The car was collected from my house yesterday and delivered back in the afternoon. great service, However, on the seat this morning I found a bottle of washer fluid and a box with a "Dataplug" inside. Has anybody got an idea of what this is for.

Just had a call from my local dealer regarding an air con service. The car is 20 months old and the dealer says an air con service is recommended at 2yrs. Apparently this entails removing and replacing the gas and replacing the oil in the compressor. Anyone else heard about this. Oh and it's £79. Sounds to me like a dealer scam.

I had mine replaced a week after taking delivery for a stone chip. Done by Autoglass via insurance. I asked about OEM and the technician said they use the same glass from the same manufacturer but they do not have the rights to the VW logo. However, the service and fitting was excellent, would never know it had been replaced.

Your cabin rattle is probably the drivers sun visor. Sounds daft I know but it's the plastic mirror slider that rattles against the light lens -
My understanding is the VW 504 is fully synthetic where the 502 is semi synthetic

It could be a neighbour who has a remote door bell. It is known that the frequency they use can affect car door locking.

Sorry, I didn't realise that the 7R does not have a MAF. A wildly fluctuating idle is usually a result of, as has been said, an intake air leak or the device that VW use to control the idle is faulty.

Fluctuating idle speed is often an indication of a faulty MAF.

Windows phones are supported. Until recently I had a Lumia 620 and that paired perfectly. It can take a few minutes though.

Oh dear, that does sound terminal. Blown turbo is top of the list but, as said, if the engine has ingested some of bits it's a new one.

I think it's to do with things like "front assist" and ACC, it supposedly improves the safety. They've obviously missed the race mode

The insurance is up for renewal and had a renewal notice from Churchill for £281 which is a bit of a hike. Did a quick check and shuffle and Aviva have offered the same cover for £237, not bad. Lv won't touch me because, as mentioned before on here, there is no tracker. Oh and I did have to declare the windscreen claim last year. Seems you have to declare glass claims with all the companies I've looked at.
