  1. Wow, not sure how you are so restrained?! I once had a run in with a bus driver who decided he didn't have to give way to cars parked on his side of the road. He got out and told me to mount the kerb so we could go passed which boiled my blood to begin with and did this all whilst having his hand on the roof of my car. After me lecturing him (the bus was full of school kids) about the dangers of asking me to perform an illegal manovour to mount the kerb he set off back to his bus, just as he got there I called him back and told him, very politely may I add, that if he ever touched my car again or any of my property without my permission we would have to have a real chat. Got a decent apology in the end though.
  2. HI Chris.  I am trying to program traffic sign detection using OBDEleven on my 2017 S3.  I seem to be having the same problem that you had back in July 2016.  Can you share with me how you overcame this.  I am stuck.

    Thanks.

  3. I get all the worries etc, however a positive of a "warranty safe" remap comes from examples I have had in the past. I owned a Focus and had a remap which I declared with no issue, after all if the engine goes because of increased boost it is on me and I accept that. I had a known fault with my multi display computer where it would freeze an not work then suddenly correct itself. I took it in to Ford and asked for the software update to be applied. Not only did they refuse due to the car having a remap but they also refused me paying for the software update all because they did not want to work on a modified car...
  4. Many left Dave? May have to divert on the route home!
  5. Does it have an option for nearest Sushi and Karaoke instead at the very least?
  6. Have you tried getting a quote to sell your car to Evans Halshaw? They tend to offer slightly more than WBAC so may be worthwhile selling it there if that proves to be the case?
  7. No no no! I have no issue with electric used like this, I have no problem with electric cars designed to go fast either. However my thoughts are if you add electric to a GTi badge you do it so the electric element adds performance of some type not to aid emissions when parking!
  8. Here are my two Leonard on the left and Cecil on the right.
  9. one advantage is trying to find winter tyres that are ok in the snow but excellent in the wet and with aquaplaning etc. this will absolutely pay dividend in the U.K. with our winter weather. Min answer to the original question AWD helps find traction in the snow, wet and cold. Winter tyres help find traction and keep traction in the snow, wet and cold.
  10. Extreme example but here's an example from the VAG family of them recalling on a PCP loan. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?p=2133732#post2133732 I'm not saying it's common or anything like that but making statements like "the chances of a remap having any bearing on a finance agreement is zero" is false. There is a chance, it is in lots of PCP terms and conditions so don't just dismiss it as a myth when it's there. As I've already said it's not common but give people facts to work with rather than say things like "You can do what you want with the car" when under the T&Cs you can't without written permission.
  11. Be careful stating things like this as it's simply not true. If the owner of the vehicle (the finance company) decide that they didn't want you doing the modifications they can recall their loan with 14-28 days notice, meaning you have to pay. Worse case scenario they repossess the car for a value they see fit and then you have to pay the difference between that value and what you owe.
  12. I did work with someone once that woke up in the middle of the night and went on eBay and purchased a BMW that was on auction by placing a last minute bid. They had never seen the car or anything, totally rash purchase so these type of relaxed people do exist. I just think as we all are car proud we tend to do a lot more decisions based on lots of preparation where as some people just think that car will do, buy.
  13. I think as mentioned briefly above one of the over riding factors is to proceed only if safe to do so. If an obstruction is there meaning you cannot progress then the onus is on you to not move. Therefore getting anything out of the Royal Mail is very very unlikely, if you can prove the Royal Mail van was parked as such and the Police are interested (again highly unlikely) then the punishment to the driver will be potential points and a fine, however this does not overrule the fact you shouldn't have progressed if your line of vision was obscured. We have all been there and done that but the best bit of advice I can give is to live and learn and just try and get over the frustration of the car damage and future costs, we've all been there after all!!
  14. Usually the terms and conditions of a PCP deal prohibit modifications on the vehicle without getting permission.
  15. Does it lock up in other scenarios? Also have you tried reversing in a similar manor on a flat surface to see if it locks up?
