  1. Mine lived in the garage every night, so they just came earlier. We were due to go out for a meal later so I had left it on the drive, for all of two hours after returning from work. God knows how many times they had been around previously, they only have to get lucky once! Mine turned up after the insurance paid out and I went for a look at the recovery garage. It seems they found the pedal box controller in the little cubby hole, presumably thought it was a tracker and ragged it out with enough force to disconnect it, thus rendering the accelerator pedal redundant and inadvertently immobilsing the car.
  2. Tal, sorry can't PM you I haven't made enough posts. However my insurance companies have been OK Quotemehappy and ALA gap, main insurance paid out in just over a week and paid top book price. I had the return to invoice GAP and they were a lot more demanding in terms of required documentation, and proof of burglary (photos of damage, cctv of offenders etc) but luckily I had everything required so they were unable to quibble... My only worry is how much my insurance will be next time having suffered a total loss.
  3. Sorry to hear this, mine went from St Helens 3 weeks ago. They came in the house whilst we were all in at 18:50. My replacement will be getting ghost autowatch.
  4. Perfect, thank you for your help. 👍
  5. Hi there about to take delivery of my mk7.5 estate, looking to fit the sunshades. I have the shades and the fiddly little clips but no instructions.. Can anyone please help out with a copy of the fitting instructions of what clip goes where. Many thanks Phil
  6. For me in my circumstances it's a must. My R estate needs perform multiple roles. Fast fun car for when the fancy takes. Family cruiser for driving holidays on the continent. Fishing wagon to drive down country lanes, unmade tracks and very light off roading. DCC means it handles all of the above with aplomb!
  7. Is there not a wheel freindly way of removing the lead weights your self before taking the car in for new tyres, and thus remove one potential cause of damage. Or am I missing something here?
  8. Had a good root around the exhaust on my Mk 7 pre-face lift estate today, and can confirm that all four are connected - of sorts. The exhaust system comes out of the silencer part directly into the outer of the two pipes, the inner pipe then branches off from the outer pipe. The exhaust gasses are taking the path of least resistance and primarily exiting straight out of the outer pipe, but a lesser proportion also come out of the inner pipe (my inners get dirty too but significantly less so) I finally satisfied my curiosity regarding this by spraying some cleaning foam up the inner pipe - it ended up coming out of the outer pipe also demonstrating that the two are connected. That said, it is clearly a form over function thing..
  9. Before I joined this forum I didn't know such things existed, but thanks to members on here I not only discovered I needed a box but also learned how to fit it and got a discount to boot! Fitted mine yesterday and what a difference! I'm almost glad I waited 3 months and 2500 miles into ownership because just as I was getting used to the R's acceleration and the initial excitement was wearing off, this wonder gadget has given me that grin factor for a second time over. If you haven't got one buy one, go hungry to afford one if you have to!
  10. Yes I have it, detuned radio is the best description I can think of, almost a quiet scratchy noise. Manifests itself between high 2000 and low 3000 revs in every gear. It's so quiet i have to actively listen out for it, music on at almost any volume and i don't hear it. But I know it's there which what annoys, almost wish it was substantially louder so i could take the car back and get them to listen, as it is I'm sure they'd pretend just not to hear it!
  11. Whilst using that ACC in heavy motorway traffic this morning. I began to wonder how the car reduces speed. Is it via engine braking, application of the brakes, or a combination of both? Which then made me wonder if my brake lights are constantly flashing on and off whilst it operates??
  12. It was not available for the pre-facelift estate, Annoying as I would have thought that those with estates might want to not advertise what ever they might be carrying to thieves.

  15. Often these teams cruise supermarket and out of town shopping center carparks looking for makes and models of cars that have pre ordered by criminal gangs. They then attach a GPS tracker, then in the early hours locate where the cars live and break in for the keys.
  16. The officers in this instace were clearly operating covertly until the last minure when the call to stop the car came in hence the unmarked non standard police vehicles. Hard to remain covert whilst wearing a body mounted camera with its associated flashing light when on record.... The police dont have to be shot at or even have a gun pointed at them to be able to use lethal force, it just needs to be their honesty held belief that they or someone else was in imminent danger. Thats the same right afforded to every citizen of Great Britain under Common Law, making self defence and a pre-emptive strike lawful tactics to us all. For instance if the armed officers had stopped got out of their cars and demanded that he show his hands, but instead he refused and attempted to drive at them in a bid to escape, then the officers would be acting within the law to use such force as was reasonable and necessary in the circumstances to stop him. Putting a couple of rounds into his centre mass in such circumstances I would suggest would be necessary, reasonable, proportionate and justified.
  17. Night Blue Estate with DCC - Ordered 20th September, Build week confirmed as 31st October very quickly, just checked the tracker and it says its now built and is in transit. I had been given an estimated delivery date of 31/12/16, but it looks like I may get it early December if the 4 week transit time is to be believed. Reading this thread I feel I've been very, very lucky.
  18. For some reason 90% tints wasnt available as an option on the configurator for the estate. Which seems like madness as You're more likley to have stuff you want out of sight in the back of an estate. Personally I like a tint but VW sunblinds look a viable alternative for those who may be undecided..
  19. Haven't even got my R yet and I'm already ordering all kinds of stuff for it i never even knew i needed. Didn't even know it had cornering lights 'till today - now I'm ordering new bulbs on the strength of this thread - is this normal behavior????
  20. very nice! My night blue estate R is currently on order and the excitement is building.
  21. Thanks for your reply, has put my mind at rest a bit. Could really do without undue delays as the car I'm driving and trading in would need an MOT which itis unlikley to pass, so fingers crossed.....
  22. Ordered my R Estate 20th September, according to the online order tracking build week confirmed as 31st October, but after read this thread beginning to wonder....... Anyone know if the delays associated with the hatch are affecting the estate? Are they even made in the same factory??
