    Golf gtd.

GTD was a softer ride than the R but that's because I don't have DCC on it. I do have DSG which makes things easy. It all depends on how much grief your back is giving you at the moment? If I was in your position I would try and get an extended test drive on an R with DCC and DSG and then make up your mind.

I've got exactly the same history, had a GTD for 3 years and now got a 7.5 R estate. Would never go back to a diesel unless forced to do galactic mileage and can only see myself extending the lease on the R or getting something else 4WD and quick like an Audi "S" or "RS" something or other. I wouldn't go back to the GTD because I can't stand the diesel "clatter". It was a good car but will be sticking with petrol or EV from here on.
  4. My Mrs is Slovak and I've been travelling over to Eastern Europe constantly for the past 10+ years. I've driven in Poland, Austria, Slovakia plus all the other European countries (Germany, France, Italy etc). Main thing to be aware of are how crazy the drivers are - they take far more risks than people in the UK and the phrase "Anything Goes" is fairly appropriate. The condition of the roads has generally improved with more motorways but if they are bad, then they are really bad - e.g. your entire car almost vanishes into a pot (crater) hole. Don't bother with speeding as they will get you and the Police are not really the forgiving kind with Mafia widespread in the region. I would personally use the Galaxy as you will be less inclined to speed and you can carry more gear. Saying that, when I was last over there in August last year, I spotted a FL Golf R 7.5 in the local town! Don't forget to drive on the right and have your main headlights on as well. Plus if going between October - April it's law that you need winter tyres fitted.
  5. It's either BVRLA or VW, not sure which, sorry.
  6. These are first generation implementations of true car/phone integration, it's going to be a bit buggy and won't look or work great for everyone but just think about what's coming down the line in a few years, things will get a lot better!
  7. skip the leather would be my vote! Welcome btw
  8. Isn't this the difference between DCC and non-DCC equipped cars?
  9. Rough/Sports Wear = Casio G-Shock Everything else = Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean (recently treated myself and not regretting it one bit)
  10. You do realise that you will need to return it to stock condition when you hand it back?
  11. That's a good deal and very similar to mine, who is that with?
  12. 20k ish over 4 years, with the final year potentially out of warranty, you'd be better off buying one...!
  13. Current daily is a G-Shock but I'm just about to order an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean as a posh daily/dress watch
