Less is more with these spray-on-rinse-off sealants and as said previously, needs to be applied out of direct sunlight and rinsed off immediately and thoroughly. I've used both Gyeon WetCoat and AF Aqua Coat. I've stuck with Gyeon WetCoat as I've found it lasts a little bit longer after I've used a light application Gyeon Cure around the whole car.

I was so against the idea of a T-Roc R because I've always liked the idea of putting the R-treatment on the Tiguan. So when VW announced the T-Roc R, I was a little disappointed and didn't want to know anything about it. Now that I've seen the T-Roc in all of its R glory, I actually really like it. Doubt I'd ever own one, but like you say, never say never!

This was my argument when I tried to fight for the whole lot to be covered but I couldn't get them to budge. Definitely could be worse!

Car goes into VW today to fix the all-common thermostat housing leak and I've just ticked over 40k miles. Although my Golf has been out of warranty for 5 months, VW were able to goodwill 100% parts and 30% labour costing me £390 for the repair. Considering my local VW Indy would charge around £500 for the job, I'll take this as a win.

Not the Golf R specifically, however, my brother has recently suffered from the same issues with his 2009 TTRS. Hasn't been fully diagnosed yet but he is getting whirring noises coming from his rear differential and has been quoted over £3000+ too. However, if diagnosed as a bad diff, he's been quoted around £1000 all-in for a differential rebuild with labour and new oil.

While I have both a garage and a car port, the space is being taken up with other cars and the R stands out to bare the cold temperature. Maybe being preventative is the way forward. Anyone use car covers/windscreen covers? Any suggestions, if so?

I like the paintbrush idea. Come to think of it, I don't know why I've never thought about using a soft bristle detailing brush to remove snow. Thanks for this suggestion!

Apologies if there is an existing thread discussing this, couldn't find anything! How/what are you guys using to de-ice, de-frost and de-snow your R's, safely and efficiently? Previously, I'd pour cold water from a tap over my R. Whilst that is a safe way of getting the job done, it's a little counter-intuitive when the water re-freezes over the car! I've now started using a 500ml spray bottle with 1 part water and 1 part Isopropyl alcohol. Whilst it does a fantastic job, I realise that if the alcohol gets on my paint, it's going to be stripping my protection so I try to use as little as possible but just wanted to see if you guys use anything different or do anything different.

My traction control light used to flash every few days with normal driving however, after I had my Haldex pump serviced by a local indie (oil change and pump clean), it's hardly flashed over the last 8 months. As mentioned above, VW do not clean the pump. Only change the oil. Not sure if this is the same issue as you're having but if the Haldex has never been completely serviced, this could be the issue. Also, if you haven't seen this thread already (https://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/24283-and-the-filthiest-haldex-filter-award-goes-to/), you'll see why they need cleaning.

These seats with matching exterior paint colour would be lovely!

I'm personally on standard plates. Nice and simple, nothing flashy. Never been a massive fan of Pressed/4D plates. Just don't like the aesthetics of them.

Of course not, no worries. I paid £1,008 for the wheels and £60 for the fitting of my own supplied tyres. Pricing could be different now as I ordered them June/July last year but at least this gives you a rough idea. Hope that helps.
-
No worries. Your local TPS seems to be the best place on sourcing these however, I personally rang my local VW dealership as they offered the same price as TPS and they booked me in for fitting as well. Pictures and part numbers over on this thread: https://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/25140-gloss-black-18”-prets/

You can count me in for the Saturday guys. I think meeting beforehand is a great idea. Wouldn't know where to suggest though but name the place, and I'll be there -

I haven't heard of these before, I'll look them up and see if I can make them! However, I am planning on going to GTI International this year with these guys https://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/26034-gti-international-rockingham-circuit-2-3-june/ -
Saw this same spec R (Indium Grey + silver Prets + 3dr) in my local VW dealership and this combo is amazing. Absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy! 😎

Put me on the list @TamsR. I'm interested. Never been before and was planning on parking up and wandering around for the day but if there's a club stand, may as well count me in Would people be going both Saturday and Sunday or just one of the days? I'd probably just do a single day as it's a bit of a trek for me. Would the Saturday be the better day, in this case? I'd feel completely outta place being stock but can't hurt to do a few runs, right? 😬🙈 Edit: I have a close friend with an APR mapped R that may be interested in coming along too. Would it be okay to count him as a +1 TBC? -
Maybe not a contender for the filthiest Haldex pump but at 30k miles, this is probably the right amount of gunk to be expected. Took the R in to the guys at Das Auto in Norwich who are all superb, friendly and very knowledgeable about all things VAG. For £99, you can't go wrong with this service. Full clean, oil change and peace of mind that the Haldex pump is working efficiently.

I hope you knocked up that stencil and you're now hiding an R logo under your car 😂

I've been to Arbuckles before! Properly nice place. Highly recommended. I'm happy to meet here if others are! Edit: Anyone else interested and can make it for the 29th? @Purbs @WILCO-MAN @andy_r @Parkinson7.5 @andy203 Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk -

Hideous or grotesque doesn't come close to describing that thing

These look great, thank you for the pic !

Any pictures of the gunmetal ones fitted? Does this mean that the original VW centre caps fit on a 8.5J but do not fit on a 8J? Or is this something to do with the manufacturer?
