  1. I kept the spare wheel and polystyrene inserts from my 7.5 after it was written off and it slotted straight in, the floorpan in the rear is identical so look for parts for an older golf
  2. I've just got myself a trolley jack for changing my wheels over but not sure where the best place is to lift the car, can you put it in a place that will allow both wheels on one side to be lifted or do you just lift in the same way as an OEM jack and do one wheel at a time?
  3. wow just noticed this, didn't have any notification as I have them all turned off but now I can try and turn off the no undertaking as my car spends half its life thinking its in France!
  4. I haven't read everyone's comments on the Bridgestone's but after driving my old car on Michelin PS4s and the new car on Bridgestone's its scary how much less grip I've got, going the same speed around the same roundabouts the car is moving around which just didn't happen on the Michelins. hopefully this means they will wear out quickly πŸ˜„
  5. well that's interesting, I thought that as the stock throttle on the 8 was so much better than the 7.5 it didn't need a pedal box but its definitely worth fitting if you have one! feels like another 20 or 30 hp πŸ˜€ Β£66.95 to have it reprogramed for the new car
  6. just had a reversing camera fitted. fully integrated identical to factory fit camera. https://www.advanced-incar.co.uk/products/reversing-cameras/volkswagen-golf-8-5h-2020-reversing-camera-retrofit/ not cheap but very good service helpful friendly company, only down side is you have to go to Poole to get it fitted due to VWs new coding rules
  7. no not yet, school holidays so no spare time πŸ™„hopefully get it in soon
  8. yes probably the best place, I will let you know if it makes any difference.
  9. yes that's exactly what they said, returned next day all done for Β£66.95 so I thought it wasn't worth upsetting the fragile electronics
  10. yes I didn't feel the need for one but as I had it I thought lets try it out! made a huge difference on the 7.5 so will be interesting if this is worthwhile or not. just need to work out where to put the control πŸ™„
  11. has anyone fitted one yet? I've just had mine reprogrammed by DTUK to try it out but realised VW have removed the cubby hole where it used to live.
  12. literally just yesterday fitted the blackvue out of my 7.5 into my new car, spent ages working out which fuses to use, I should have left it a day and used your guide! didn't want it out for to long as it proved lying people wrong on 2 occasions so worth every penny I paid for it
  13. not sure if anyone wants too see this sort of thing! this is what it takes to write off a 100k 4 year old 7.5 rebuildable title apparently so will presumably appear on an auction sometime soon.
  14. have you got details of the sunglasses holder? that's one mod i haven't picked up on yet. busy buying bits for Wednesdays delivery πŸ˜€
  15. i obviously don't read the title of the post πŸ™„
  16. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Volkswagen-Golf-19-Estoril-Alloy-Wheel-Set-with-Tyres-5H0-601-025-/265179915684?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 not mine just saw on ebay the other day
  17. if you're changing wheels for winter get full winter tyres, crossclimates are good but not as good as full winters. I have them on another vehicle but wouldn't use them in summer on a performance vehicle and cant see the point for winter use when a proper winter tyre is a lot better and yes I have tried both in the same conditions πŸ˜€
  18. are they the genuine VW 18" prets? I've got a set of those with my winter tyres and wondering if they would look ok on a MK8
  19. get a ghost it saved my last car and my new ones getting one fitted the day i get it, also means you don't have to worry about faraday bags as they might unlock it but it they won't be able to start it.
  20. 23rd June a few minutes after my 7.5 was declared a write off πŸ˜„
  21. ordered a car a lease company had ordered on spec completely standard + winter pack in Lapiz Blue, told 2 weeks ago it had just been made it is now amazingly at the dealer and I get it on the 21st !
  22. found these gas struts by searching the part number, a lot cheaper than eBay https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/car-brands/spare-parts-vw/golf-vii-5g1-be1/125943/11877/bonnet-struts.html#10101 not sure which make is best or if if the eBay one is VW badged, do they fit all these different makes in the factory?
  23. thanks I was told 4 weeks, I think that's about how long my last one took but wasn't in a hurry that time as I actually had a car to drive.
  24. I've managed to get hold of a lease vehicle that has just come off the production line, what is the average delivery time from factory to dealer?
  25. Thanks that's very helpful, not cheap but looks like the proper job and better than waiting for a year for a replacement car.
