  1. I had a TT intake pipe on mine after a Revo stage 1 and I can honestly say I noticed no difference so a waste of £180 and an hour of my time to fit, apparently it adds 10bhp but I couldn't feel it. The stage 1 Revo was a massive difference. I think beyond stage 1 you need all the hardware and go full stage 2 or don't bother. I'm reading up on all this again as I've just sold the Golf R and bought a 2015 Audi S3! I test drove lots of cars and realised I loved my Golf but didn't want another one much the same so an S3 is the same but different if you follow!!!!
  2. I just got my set of Michelin Sport 4s today, Michelin have £100 cash back on a set of 4 19" this month. Still don't think £535 for 4 is a bargin but they are the best a man can get!
  3. Interesting read indeed. I was thinking of changing my stage 1 Dsg 2016 20k Golf R to an RS3 just last week, nardo grey, dynamic pack 2016 15K. Golf is worth 21000 private and the RS3 is worth 32000 private, the dealer is asking 37000! Bottom line is..... I can't do it, its a lot more money for not much more car, nice noise, B&O, idrive type screen control and heated leather. I don't see anything else that's making up the price. I like my Golf too much for that crazy deal.
  4. Rubbish isn't it? I couldn't figure it at first. They are replacing both my back speakers.
  5. I'm of the same opinion, I've had an E36 M3, an E92 M3, a 320D and a 335D x-drive all good cars, E92 M3 was spectacular...........on a nice DRY B road. However there aren't alot of them! I even prefer my Golf R to my 2014 335D x-drive, it always felt disconnected from me as the driver, soft suspension in a heavy car with a gearbox that did what it wanted, in a straight line just as fast as the golf but an unenjoyable car to drive fast. The Golf is spectacular in the way it does everything well. I'd still rather have my V8 M3 on a nice dry road though!
  6. There's nothing wrong with the door seals, it's the speaker seals failing causing the water to run out of the door panel and onto the inside of the door seal rather than out the drain in the bottom of the door. I'm tempted to tell them not to change the carpet as it seems dry as my car is garaged at night and the carpet is immaculate, I don't want any other issues from the new carpet having to be fitted.
  7. I'd looked up water leaks in the Golf Mk7 and it seems mine has the disease! The water runs into the back door through the window rubbers and instead of running out the drain holes it pools on the door rubber and runs into the car. After leaving it into VW today they have told me the speaker seals have gone and I need a new speaker, although they are replacing the other one too, and a whole interior carpet set as the sound deadning is damp! I'm worried about the last bit but they assure me I'll never know they have been there. Parts are ordered and next week it goes back. VW have never issued a recall for this which is surprising as it will affect all 5Dr Mk 7's and I imagine they will all suffer this eventually. Could be worse, at least it's not as bad as the Focus head gasket stinker!
  8. When I do launch the car there seems to be a metallic slipping sound from the back diff, like the drive to the diff slips for a few tenths of a second. It sounds like I'm doing it damage so I have made a vow to stop launching! I've only done a few😞
  9. I've got a Revo stage 1 on my Dsg and I have decided to go for a Turbo Technics intake as my next step due to cost and ease of fitting. It should add 10hp for £200. I doubt I'll bother going any further as the next step is a downpipe at £600 for 15hp and an intercooler at £700 for 15hp. Both are a PITA to fit........ then a stage 2 map upgrade.
  10. I just read the Revo site and you need an intake, downpipe and intercooler for stage 2 and that gives 401bhp. I'm not forking out 1400 quid plus stage 2 for an intercooler and downpipe to gain 30bhp.
  11. I'm not sure about the free Revo upgrade to stage 2. I think it's a possibility or maybe £100. I do recall that from seeing the Revo map files (and correct me if I'm wrong) that the standard boost is 1.35bar, stage 1 is 1.65 and stage 2 is 1.75.
  12. I was thinking I'd get away without that as it's another £700 for 15hp and according to Revo, optional. But sure I'm doing any other mods after the TT intake😇
  13. I'm at Revo Stage 1 on my DSG and I just ordered a Turbo Tecnics intake due to this thread! On the power curves it ads 13bhp for not a vast outlay but a higher cost per BHP than the stage 1. Hopefully I notice it as there's no point if I don't! I don't intend to go to stage 2 as its a downpipe at £700 + the Revo software upgrade...............................no no I really don't intend to go stage 2 ..........................honest.................................
  14. Ok, I just spent 10minutes of my time on this so I hope its of interest to you! I was looking for an R for about a month and I called about the following car but he wouldn't come down to my price, I'm in N.Ireland and had to add the cost of travel. The car seems perfect and the guy is 100%. He called me the day after I bought a car locally to say he'd accept my offer! A day earlier and it would be in my garage! Call J D Motor company about the owners car, Mark, I think. It's a 15 Onyx white 3Dr 25K car with pretorias, navigation, leather and a Revo stage 1 https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201711241530346?advertising-location=at_cars&advertising-location=at_cars&transmission=Automatic&postcode=bt817yj&model=GOLF&sort=price-asc&page=5&aggregatedTrim=R&price-from=500&quantity-of-doors=3&make=VOLKSWAGEN&fuel-type=Petrol&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=Used
  15. My back discs are really bad after 16K, I bought the car second hand and I think the first owner just washed the car and parked it causing bad rust that can only be sorted with medium or higher pressure braking. My discs are improving in appearance but the deep scores are there forever. I've already repainted the hubs with silver hammerite. The way to avoid this corrosion is to wash the car and take it a short drive making sure to warm the brakes especially the backs, pity you can't drag the handbrake with the electobrake. I've always done this.
