Creaking from front left ....ARGH!!!!!

So my car has developed a ridiculous, intermittent creaking from the front left. Potentially the suspension but I can’t replicate it pushing the car down by hand. It seems to happen when it’s warmer and is only audible at lower speeds but it is loud and very annoying. It’s definitely not the common door frame squeak.

My question is has anyone else had the same problem and found a solution? It’s driving me crazy, please help!

I noticed that my suspension was creaking, particularly on full lock and most audible at slow speeds. The dealer took it in and it after a test drive, it had the suspension joints lubricated, which cured the problem. Others on here have had similar issues, and creaky suspension is a known issue it seems.

I had a creak from the front left too in my old R. It was most noticeable in dry weather and only after the car had done a few miles (ie never from cold). And only when manuevering at low speeds.

I had the dealers investigate it numerous times. Shock, top mount, bushings were all replaced / lubricated. Each time, I thought they’d sorted it but within a day or two I could hear it again. So unfortunately I just learned to put up with it. Never resolved it.

Coincidentally, I just had my car serviced and told the dealer about the noise (creaking from the front suspension when going slowly over speed ramps).  He said it was a known issue with the rubber seals on the suspension - that they just needed a special lubricant applied.  They applied this under warranty.   All sorted for a few days, and then this morning I heard it creeping back in again.   Not as bad as before, but definitely there.

Every Golf and Polo we've had down the years has suffered with this, it's very much a temperature/ weather related issue. Cold dry weather when the offending bushes/ mountings are 'hard' is when it occurs, as soon as there's bit of moisture about it disappears. Our 3 yr old Polo sleeps outside and creaks like a barn door when it's cold.

Exactly the same thing used to happen to me. I had it back to them at least 3-4 times, I had the "special" lube applied, and various parts replaced. It always seemed to be "fixed" for a day or two and then came back. Actually I think on one occasion I could hear it as I drove out of the dealers lol.

A common problem them with little chance of it being resolved. My cars 2014 so I won’t get it under warranty. Guess I’ll just have to live with it (honestly don’t think I can).

Thanks for all the replies confirming I’m not on my own with this.

Mine was resolved, so it may be worth a go.

I think this might be a different noise you're hearing Booth 11, every VW I've had in the past few years has done this but only when it's been raining or damp. It's exactly as you say low speed manoeuvring on full lock either forward or reverse, it doesn't do it any other time so I think it's just a VW thing in certain weather conditions.

Yeah I think that’s the case, and tbh it doesn’t bother me, but I never had it in either of my mk5s or my mk6 GTIs at all, so for me it’s specific to the 7R.
