Steakboy
Hi all, my first post - as I purchased a 2017 R 7.5 last week 😁😁 So my car has covered 21k and some maintenance is now due. my brake pads all round look pretty low and the front discs seem to have a slight lip. Rears not too bad.. Spoke to TPS local to me and cost for pads & discs all round was £360. I also had a quick look at Euro car parts and for Brembo pads & discs (after discount) is £260. So for the people who have gone through changes on their braking system what would you recommend? The £100 saving does look attractive but is it worth it? Cheers! Sequence
Welcome! I would recommend looking at upgrading to the club sport disks and pads they supposedly offer a nice feel and improvement and they also save some weight. Otherwise OE parts are fine, you do have to be careful with euro car parts as sometimes the offer is not truly an offer and also they are very well know for listing the wrong parts on the site as compatible. Thank you. Yes ECP can be misleading with their 'offers'. Does the clubsport brakes allow for extra power - say a stage 1 remap.. purely thinking ahead if I decide to go ahead with it. Yes they will be more than adequate and depending on how heavy on the breaks you are you can match them u with some ferodo pads and some stainless lines camelsac2002
slider09
I’ve just replaced front discs and pads (30k mileage). I opted for black edition MTEC grooved and Brembo pads. Total price was around £170 ish. Done around 400 miles now since fitting so are nicely bedded in. No complaints whatsoever, work very well. ellixtt
I swapped my rear pads and discs from OEM to Brembo pads and discs (not grooved or drilled) and they were great. That said on my new R I think I might go for some hooked pads mainly for looks really, MTEC ones look good and seem affordable but not sure if they are too heavy or if I’m being too picky 😂

It’s a road car, don’t think an extra 1kg in weight will make much of a difference.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Jon R306

SpursMadDave
Agree’d Just being pedantic Does make me chuckle when people say about disk weights and wheel weights etc you would notice bugger all on the roads even spirited driving, on a track maybe you would notice it more, but an R is a heavy car anyway so even that is doubtfulSent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
LouCyffer
I’ve just fitted Clubsport S front disc and pads, at a cost of a little under £500. So far, I’ve noticed an increase in progression, allowing better modulation of braking effort, even at low speed driving and commuting. It’s worth considering that my original brakes may have been treated poorly as my car was used when I bought it, who knows. Although lighter parts, as @SpursMadDave says, there’s no indication of this at all on the road. There’s a little squeal occasionally as the pads are bedding in, and perhaps more dust on my alloys, but all in all I’m very pleased with the look of the upgrade, but definitely with the feel of the brakes now. As a principle should you not keep the same brands the same ie. Brembo pads and discs? Or isn't there an issue with that.

Steakboy
I have the same view I think the previous owner was a little hard on the brakes who knows. But the fronts are more worse for wear than the rears. I suppose just changing the front wont sit well altogether?

No issue using different brands of discs / pads as far as I’m aware.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
