End of PCP deal what to do ?

Well my 3 year PCP deal finishes in Dec on my Golf R - car has been great never missed a beat.

i put the max deposit down on the car so there is money left in the car, I have the balloon payment in the bank so I can pay up and keep the car but......

  • do I look for another car ( No idea what ) and use the money that’s in the car as a deposit and keep most of the balloon payment in the bank (rainy day money)
  • pay it off and keep a 3yr old car with no warranty
  • keep the balloon payment in the bank For a rainy day, get new a new finance deal, keep the 3 yr old car

Thoughts appreciated

Can’t think Phil why VW wouldn’t offer you a 4 th year warranty if you bought it.  Unless I’ve misunderstood here.

You know how this car has been driven and cared for.  Could be a wise buy, depending upon the price ofcourse.
Financing the purchase is your preference, depending upon circs.  Some fair a personal loans around, for the right categories.  Always nice to have a Buffer stashed away for emergencies, unforeseen, unanticipated.   OG wisdom setting in now tho.😀

Only the OP can decide here, everyone’s circumstances are different.

What do you replace it with, no like for like swap at similar price point?

I tend to keep cars for just under 5 years (with OEM extended warranty from new) then look at what options I have, what my needs are, and buy a new one to fit.Im a low milage user, so 5 years works great

Don’t get these pcp deals, if I can’t afford it I don’t buy it. Maybe I’m lucky (or just work hard), or just old school, and have never gone down the finance route for anything, apart from:

* my mortgage which I paid off early anyway

* I will take dealers finance to get additional deposit contributions and pay off when I get the car

* interest free finance - leaving my cash in the bank

additional 2 year warranty.

VW withdrew the 2yr extension a while back. I wanted it but option not longer available with the order I placed in May 18. Delivery was March 19.
It is possible to “extend” with a yearly VW Warranty at reasonable cost. A Good level of cover is offered.
