I had yellows on before and have to say they were crap

I`m just looking into new front pads and have been reading plenty of threads but all the advice is contradictive.

What some love others hate 🙃

I really don`t know what pads to go for, yellowstuff, redstuff, clubsport or other.

Having tried lots of brake combinations on this and my previous R.and Gti

On my previous R I opted for ebc drilled and grooved discs with yellow stuff pads.
Discs bells rusted pretty quickly and the yellow stuff were terrible with crap cold bite and squeal.
My Gti I fitted clubsport discs and clubsport pads, didn’t rate the clubsport pads over the standard pads.
My current R I fitted Porsche Macan calipers with clubsport discs and redstuff pads, after 900 miles the redstuff pads fell apart.
I then fitted ds2500 pads which were excellent, I sold the Macan calipers and pads after upgrading my wheels which wouldn’t clear the calipers without spacers.
Then I ran clubsport discs with Racingline rp700 pads same as what I run on the rear and this was an excellent setup with fantastic bite but not as strong from high speed as the Macan calipers.
Now have the Racingline stage 2 kit that is by far the best setup option I’ve used on any of my Golfs.
For normal road use the clubsport discs with clubsport pads or the Racingline pads I mentioned with braided hoses is an excellent compromise instead of the cost of a bbk.

I have just changed to DS2500 and have no bad words to say at all.

DS2500 are track pads, not designed for road use (not road legal).

Yeah, just changed to DS2500 and they are definitely suitable for a fast road setup. Probably the best pads I have ever used.

Maybe suitable in terms of performance, just the legalities / risks of having such pads people should be made aware of.

Is there any cases of people getting stung by this? Would be interesting to know

I doubt it tbh, but the risk is always there.
In the event of an accident, having brakes which are not legal for road use will invalidate your insurance. Will the insurance assessor find out - unlikely, but you never know.

I also upgraded to the front Clubsport S discs and pads and found it a good little upgrade in terms of some improved braking with oem feel (not night and day but a reasonable improvement) and better aesthetics, again keeping that oem look. The aluminium bells will not rust like the oem rears but still do need protecting from corrosion.

Agree entirely... had the same and they look better and feel slightly better...

I’ve in the process of fitting my Racingline stage 2 brake kit,
If I’m happy then I’ll be listing my clubsport discs and Racingline RP700 pads and Hel braided hoses in classifieds.
All purchased new by me in March this year and done approx 2000 miles so fantastic condition.

Yeah very pleased with them, I don’t do track days or anything just normal fast road stuff.
Pedal feel is great and they’re much stronger than the oem brakes.
No squeal or anything, Perfect!
