bertie1249
Decided to wash the car today, as it was a bit cloudy but still very hot. Unlocked the car and after about a minute the car locked itself. Each time I unlocked it, the car would self lock. Annoying when I was trying to wash the mirrors at the same time, as they kept on folding back. This didn’t happen when I first bought the car, but I’ve noticed it happening the last three occasions I’ve washed the car. Is this normal? Any ideas much appreciated. Stobsie
After unlocking the car are you opening any of the doors? bertie1249
Booth11
If you don’t open a door after unlocking then the car will automatically lock again after a short time. Best thing to do when washing the car is unlock it (open a door then close it) and then take your keys and put them out of range otherwise you get the mirrors flapping in and out like an exuberant puppy. bertie1249, Stobsie and golf7.5r 2

Ok that explains it then and you have no issue as it’s a security feature to stop you accidentally unlocking the car and leaving it unsecured. bertie1249

LouCyffer
It’s 30 seconds after unlocking that it locks again if you don’t open a door. It’s caught me out several times as well 🤣 bertie1249

That's what I do as well. If you have the key close to the car just water on the door handles can sometimes lock/unlock the car as it seems to trigger the sensors for keyless entry/locking
