With some valuable help from @dv52 (thank you Don) I’ve coded to enable the chirp on unlock and lock.  I did this on my mk7R and wanted it on the mk8 too.

Note: This did not require SFD unlock on mine.

Here’s the step by step guide:

- Pop the bonnet (otherwise it will not write any changes)

- Plug in OBDeleven dongle and connect

- Go into 09 Central Electrics

- Put ZV in search box

- Select ZV Quittierungen

To check it’s in the menu, on the infotainment screen, go to Vehicle - Exterior - Central locking and you’ll see ‘Audible confirmation’ as a new menu item. Tap to make it active.

Close up bonnet.

And that’s it!

Here it is although the sound gets a bit let amongst the mic picking up passing traffic and the folding wing mirror mechanism.  Actually sounds louder (in a good way) in the flesh than in video.

Excuse the very dirty car.   Consequence of hosepipe ban.  Now rocking mud brown Estorils. 😢😁

Terrific !

Tomorrow I’m doing it too

(maybe today if I get impatient)

it’s a terrific option

I’ll try to do the chirp as well

if I feel it’s enough for my needs

I’ll refrain from the ASBO honk 😉

So to summarize:
4 item to tick for chirp (lock, unlock, global, hmi)

2 more for horn (activate, and length)

Right ?

Edit:

I saw your post (that then disappeared)

and it seems you didn’t tick the GLOBAL

is it unnecessary for the chirp ?

Amazing. Thx.

You didn’t need to turn on Quittierton Global as well ?

so just 3 parameters to be changes to active ?

For activation via horn

(fit those with no alarm, or that need extra oomph)

I’m guessing these two will need to be set as well:

I will try to check tomorrow and will update.

Haha, I got impatient too. 😄

Like @8YARWY and for same reasons, I only want a subtle audible sound so the chirp is perfect for me.   Does a double chirp on unlock and single chirp on lock.

No no need for Quittierton Global to be changed for the chirp.  I decided to start out simply, just trying what I thought were the key ones and see if it worked.   It did, so yes, just the 3 parameters for the chirp.

I’d anticipate for the horn it might need those too but only one way to find out!  Good luck with yours.

It’s subtle isn’t it but I think it’s enough, yours is exactly the same noise as mine Becs.

It’s just right Sean, and just enough to have that audible assurance.  Thanks for your help. 😊

I managed to activate the chirp

Problem: it only chirps on the second time I press to lock

Is it the same for you @Booth11 ?

Is there a way to make it chirp on the first lock ?

Also, the chirp is a bit quiet for me (see video).

And it won’t help me find the car in underground parking.

So I turned on:

- Quittierton_global
- Quittungston_ueber_hupe

(acknowledgement over horn)

But it still chirps happily as a bird

and no obnoxious horn is heard

P.S. apparently I don’t have:

Akustische Quittierungsdauer Einfachhorn

(to change the length of the horn/chirp)

I tested it with key fob and then using keyless entry for both unlock and lock and pretty sure it works just the one press (using key) and the one palm wave for keyless.  I’m away from my car for a little while but will check again when I’m next with it.

Same here. One press only and/or touch of the handles (RS3 tho)
