Afternoon all,

Stumbled across this forum and have been reading all your posts to get as much info as possible on this lovely beast of a car. I took delivery this morning of a 8.5 R in Lapiz Blue, coming previously from a Cupra / Leon / Tiguan / now Golf R it feels like I'm in the seat of the Cupras big brother.

Still in the discovery phase of everything and appreciate all the insightful comments and tips/tricks!

I'm really intrigued with the HK sound system I hope I've got it as standard, will check shortly.

Has anyone attempted to install a dashcam themselves down the A Pillar? I was tempted to do this myself I did install it on the Cupra on my own) but the talk of the airbag being there worries me a bit.

I have installed a number of dash cameras in various makes of car., take your time (the airbag doesn't deploy locally it's triggered by the ECU) it's frightening when you hear the clips releasing on the A pillar trim (sounds like you are wrecking it) Alternatively just use a trim tool to "Tuck" it into the trim

Thanks, I will give it a go tomorrow and be careful. I have a trim tool so should be ok.

No HK sound system on my car it seems

Had a go at the dashcam and all was going well but I accidentally disconnected the passenger side airbag whilst doing the install and forgot to plug it back in before turning on the ignition. I've now got an Airbag error and also a "12v battery is being discharged, please start the engine"

I tried to use Carista to clear the airbag error but it failed to do so, I have bought an OBDEleven tool which I'm hoping will be able to do it. Has anyone come across these issues before?

Has anyone used ODBEleven Pro with their 8.5? I must be blind or oblivious but quite a few things I wanted to change which I thought were possible don’t seem to be available.

some things I wanted to change:

1) audible sound when locking the vehicle

2) disable start stop

3) disable beeping sound when driver door open

4) disable seatbelt warning sound

Unfortunately a lot of the things are not able to be changed by coding because of the SFD2 protection the 8.5 has which has not yet been cracked.

Disabling Start Stop was stopped some time back with the mk7.5.

Obdeleven aside, If you enable the 'lock when walking away' feature in the vehicle locking menu, it will chirp once when it locks as you walk away.  You have to have that feature enabled in the Vehicle Opening and Closing menu otherwise it doesn't chirp on normal keyless locking.

Ahh that’s a shame but good to know, thanks for sharing.
