Supposedly, it is a nothing thing.

In my opinion, if you show up at the dealer’s with 20k miles on the service clock it may seem like you missed a service, which may be worse than showing up with 10k and say you did the last one somewhere else (you are allowed to use any certified shop).

If this is an interim oil change (like an early post run-in change, or a 5k miles change) an it won’t exceed 10-12k miles from the previous one they did (or from new) until you reach the dealership, then you may leave it as it is.

Either way, 90% they won’t even notice and just do the service they were asked to do, and reset the clock.

Yeh It’s an early post run in change, I’ve got around 7500km on it, whatever that is in miles? I’m just going to leave it..

Probably best

You’ll probably be at the dealer before 1yr or 15k km

So you shouldn’t change anything

Just a question? I’m doing an oil change this weekend, do I reset the ‘oil service reminder’ as well? Because the next service the dealer will do it and they’ll see I’ve done an oil change myself, is that a good thing or bad thing in terms of warranty issues?

I've just done an oil and filter change at 8,000mls. myself despite paying for a service plan. I have not reset my 'oil service reminder' this will be done by the dealer when I take up my first sevice in about 8K miles from now.  My reasoning is that I don't like the thought of a brand new car doing 16,000mls. before it's first service, (flexible service schedule) and I did not want to waste one of my paid for services on something which I can do easily myself.

Just watch a video of the new 8.5 GTI ED50. Looks rather nice. Noticed that at around the 9 minute mark whilst they are going through the interior, they have the speed limit chime on/off as a hotkey. I can’t seem to find a way to do this on my 8.5R. I can hotkey the entire assist menu but not individual options.

Also noticed the red pulsing start button. Mine just stays solid white when pressed. Take it that’s a GTI feature?

I also want/need that alcantara steering wheel 😍

Is there a way of ending an active phone call from the steering wheel?  I'm using an iPhone connected to wireless CarPlay.  I can answer it fine but the only way I can see the end the call is to use the infotainment screen and even then it's a couple of taps.

Am I missing something?

I am led to believe the answer is no… madness isn’t it?!

Maybe that’s a change in later versions that you can hot key the speed warning.

It’s not an option in the list of things available to hot key in mine, as you say just the Assist menu but not specific items from the Assist menu.

Ahhh that’s annoying. I did notice some software differences on my dad’s new 8.5R compared to mine. I’ll maybe have a look at his later on.

Is the pulsing red start/stop button a new addition too?

I think the OK button (right side) will do that

I'm sure I've tried that, but it didn't work.  it might be digital dash view dependant as when I push the OK button with the view I'm using I get to the assist menu where I disable speed alert and so on.

I'll give it a try though next time I'm out.
