  1. Hi It was Bradley who actioned the detailing. As to resistance to swirls. I haven't tested that. All washing has been done by me & as it is a white R any swirls would be difficult to see. Bradley did say it came with swirls, but none that I had noticed. It has been easier to keep in tip top appearance especially the alloys which were also treated.
  2. I paid £560 to Concours detailing. Two day process using g-techniq products (crystal serum light)
  3. Never mind the "R" i've changed my garage door light to LED, now that has made a difference. Nice LED golf ball fits neatly in the control housing.
  4. Recommend I bought my Golf R from Inchcape Manchester, 200 miles from me. Bought via CARWOW & of the dealers who responded Rick Blackledge at Inchcape VW Manchester was by far & away the best when it came to contact & customer service. I was also kept fully informed as my R progressed during its build. I can't speak for the service side of the operation at Manchester as its not due yet.
  5. I can't agree more. With nearly a year of ownership under my belt, I'm still in love with my Golf R.
  6. I guess I will never understand the reasons behind the difference in production times for the R. It may be affected by the location of the supplying dealer. I ordered mine at the very end of last year. but build week is 7/3/16 (Week 10) which is slower than yours iMike. Anyway all this goes to show is that we are a very impatient bunch when it comes to waiting for our R's.
  7. That's quite an impressive list of options. Not only that, I can't recall seeing a faster time scale to Build. I ordered mine 31/12/15 & Build week is 7/3/16.
  8. Exactly the same with me. Same dates. Spoken to both VW & supply dealer. It is the later date which is apparently the correct one. Build Week 10. Getting nearer all the time.
  9. I'm still waiting on my R. Currently on "Build Week Confirmed" I also had short listed the A45 & test drove both vehicles. Despite the fact that my local dealer (Greenoaks Mercedes) had several pre registered with delivery mileage only & the prices around £34K, which is what I am paying for the R, it was the R that got my vote. I hated the apparent afterthought addition of the sat-nav screen in the A45. It lets down & compromises the interior of the vehicle. I have no second thoughts as to "have I made the right decision" The R is a superb all rounder. I'm hoping it will be all things to all people, but especially to me.

  11. Hi Sammo My online tracker also does not show build week, at the moment. The dealer advised me that it was 8. Hopefully he is correct.
  12. I've just paid a whole lot more than that through carwow but with a totally different spec, however, a new R for around 27K is a damn good price.
  13. Its quite a modest spec. The DCC seemed to be the problem with an off the shelf R. In the end I plumped for White 5dr DSG with Sunroof, Nav, Winter pack, Climate windscreen/Adv telephone & the DCC. (Ignored the leather & 19" pretoria).
  14. Hi Folks Took the plunge on New Years Eve & after much unsuccessful searching for an available vehicle with a suitable spec, ordered a new Golf R. Initially advised 12-14 weeks, but now told my build week is 8.
