  1. I'm leaning towards the Lapiz for my next R if they don't release a Moonstone style or White silver ish colour.
  2. The DSG in S in 7.5 was perfect and I look forward to it in the 8.5. Pulling up to a Junction in S on the 8Y and everyone would look at me as if I was on a hot lap in an F1 race haha. Someone explained the technical reason as to why but It sort of went over my head. I would carry a towel around in the car to try and help speed up the process. My Saxo VTS did a better job lol. I haven't actually driving the 8R but It's true it needs the high revs. I guess that's why S mode holds them so high, It zips along in that mode for sure though. But I'm mostly sat in D and it has a large enough lag to start accelerating when I put my put down. And to be honest I don't really have the time to go out for fun drives as much anymore, having two kids that take up all my time. This is why I also see the 8.5 as a very appealing all rounder that will tick all the box's for me. I got the GTE as an interim while I wait for the 8.5 and I'm loving the mk8 so far. I wonder if more than 3 colours will be available on the 8.5? The moonstone grey I have currently is great and it would be awesome to have a similar colour for the R, maybe not though as the Clubsport uses that colour.
  3. Driving it hard then yes, it obviously out performs the Golf. But for most the driving I do on the British roads I prefer the Golf R. It has the perfect balance of performance for me, I guess it’s all down to preference though. I didn’t like sitting in S mode on the 8Y as it sat far too high on the revs for me. So this and what I mentioned above is why prefer the golf as a daily. Getting to my car at 3am after a 14hour working day then having to wait 10min to clear my windscreen is not something I want when paying 60k for a car haha. People on the Audi forums have been buying 12V mini heaters to plug in to assist.
  4. Not to distract from the topic, but these are the annoying things on the RS3 compared to my years of performance Golfs. You will laugh as they are generally small but annoyed me so much haha. Car warming and de-misting. Literally takes 10-15 min to get any sort of warm air. The auto hold only worked on a hill to stop roll back, otherwise you needed your foot on the brake, or put the hand brake on to stop blinding the person behind you with your brake lights. Door mirrors only folded back out when you started the engine. I always found this annoying when wanting to check them before pulling away. Sat waiting for the mirrors to unfold. S mode on the gear box was far to aggressive compared to the golf R. I understand why but I couldn’t stay in that mode, and found because of that I never really used it. Normal D mode had a big delay for power as well, I much preferred the Golfs S mode. These are the ones off the top of my head anyway. I original wanted a mk8 R and only went for the RS3 because the price wasn’t that much more after I had specced up the mk8. Don’t get me wrong it’s still a great car but I don’t miss it, and love my new GTE. I’m very much looking forward to ordering an 8.5
  5. Well I can definitely see my self getting one of these last ICE Mk8.5 R's ordered. Having just bought an ex demo Mk8 golf GTE I am very much enjoying being back in a Golf. I actually still miss my 7.5 R and wish I never sold it. Just sold my RS3 8Y, but after two years It never give me the enjoyment all my previous golfs have. I will probs keep the GTE for a couple of years then pick up an 8.5R. from the sneak peak pics I really like the look of it and have no doubt it will be a great all round daily, unlike the RS3 was...
  6. Yeah maybe. I have a 5 litre W6 fallout from Gtechniq that I was using on my Golf R. I guess I only changed to BH Because of the great reviews it was getting, I will try going back. Thanks, I find car detailing very relaxing. Before I know it I have been out for 4 hours and the Mr's is shouting at me to do some proper house work haha.
  7. Wow. Amazing info thanks. I have probably been using the BH Autowheel too much then, I don't use it every wash but more than I should be. The Car has had a full detail before I collected it last month including Front end PFF Gtechniq ultra and C5 wheel armor. I guess whatever I have done the C5 hasn't protected me from haha. I never wash the car in direct sunlight as my drive is shaded from the sun in the morning, when I would was the car. I'm working all weekend but going to Purchase some of these recommended products and get to work next week correcting what I have no doubt caused. I post my results.
  8. Really appreciate the info, thanks. Will try the recommendations and report back. Connie is always helping me wash the cars. She's the best. Craig
  9. Hi, Long time Golf R owner recently changed to Audi and it's the first time I have had black wheels on a car. I'm a try hard with my car cleaning and try to follow all the correct procedures to protect the paintwork and keep the car looking great. I have noticed some marks on my wheels and was wondering if anyone knows what has caused them and how to remove them? My wheel cleaning is as follows: - Spray with Bilt Hamber auto wheel then agitate with detail brush - Cover in Bilt Hamber Touchless and leave to dwell for 5min - Pressure wash - Two bucket wash with Wheel woollies and micro fiber mitt - Pressure wash clean I clean the wheels first then cover the whole car again in Touchless and continue with the wash. Any top tips would be appreciated as well. I love the black wheels but not a fan of cleaning them haha. Many thanks Craig
  10. Apparently it is. Yeah they are very popular with RS's, they own a Golf R mk7 though and have done lot's of testing on that. I can't fault the Remap but not got much to compare it to.
  11. Good point about the Dyno's. It was good to get a run done before to compare it to the graph after the tune. They said I didn't require a DSG remap.
  12. Hi Gary, Yes it's the 7 speed DSG. I don't have any issues with any of the gears, all really smooth. Car feels like standard apart from when I put my foot down.
  13. Massively! Been out driving all this afternoon and still can't believe how much it's changed the car.
  14. Decided to go and get stage 1 done on my year old 7.5. Also got a Revo panel filter to replace my standard one. BTG performance who do Revo remaps is only 5 min drive for me, and from my research I seemed happy with the products they do. I wasn't let down, really impressed with how it performs. It's really smooth to drive and lots of extra fun with the added power. BTG performance also impressed me. Nice clean workshop with a great staff and knowledge. Even called me so I could head over early to watch the after remap dyno runs. I was surprised it was only 303hp before the remap. I thought they tend to be higher than stated? a misconception by me probably, not that it matters now.
  15. Thats great to hear thanks. I'm Just getting a the Remap and a Revo panel filter but apart from that it will be standard. Can't wait to go for a blast after.
