  1. Thanks for the reply guys, im leaning towards getting the DSG service done, 80k doesn't really feel right - the car is now just over 4 years old, the car has over the last 2 years just done a lot of short trips (like most I guess) Looks like its going to be an expensive month ha! Major Service, DSG service (inc filter clean) Haldex
  2. Hi All Question my R is a 7.5 with 37k miles is due a service, I’m getting conflicting messages on a DSG service, main dealer says 80k miles another dealer says 40k miles - I’m leaning towards getting it done out of caution and getting the filter checked at the same time thoughts ?
  3. I cannot do that again 🤪 Seriously - im prob going to keep it, went to work in it today and blasted down the back roads - still makes me 😁
  4. Well my 3 year PCP deal finishes in Dec on my Golf R - car has been great never missed a beat. i put the max deposit down on the car so there is money left in the car, I have the balloon payment in the bank so I can pay up and keep the car but...... do I look for another car ( No idea what ) and use the money that’s in the car as a deposit and keep most of the balloon payment in the bank (rainy day money) pay it off and keep a 3yr old car with no warranty keep the balloon payment in the bank For a rainy day, get new a new finance deal, keep the 3 yr old car Thoughts appreciated Phil
  5. Been in touch with a mate with a welder, we are thinking cut them off @ the weld and clean up, and then tack weld a nut on to the tail pipe then put them back on with a small bolt into the nut, or tack weld a washer onto the trim and put back on with a self tapper into the tail pipe. will investigate further in the next couple of days Nothing is straight forwards is it. 🙄
  6. I really fancy doing this mod, as my car is silver white I think the black tail pipes will be a good look I have a bodyshop only 5 mins from my house who do powder coating and they have quoted me £40 to powder coat in matt black all 4 tail trims A quick check on my tail pipe trims show they have been spot welded on, so not a straight forward job - looks like I might have to get the dremel cutter out to remove them, then think about how to re-attach Thoughts ?
  7. Not quite a full detail, but I gave my car it’s first ever wash, and removed the glue from the transport covers, thankfully found no marks or swirls on the paintwork. Gave it a quick spray with some IronX, surprising how much contam was present on a week old car Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Opened the cubby & fed the connectors over the top, removed the small cover above the throttle pedal (torx required) Plugged it in Simples [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Pedal Box Plus arrived today, took less than 5 mins to fit - i have only done the self tune function and i can feel the improvement with a quick run up the road. will have a proper play with it over the xmas break. I am prob not feeling the full benefit of fitting it so soon after picking up the car as it only has 65miles on the clock I have never started moving a car so soon, a slippery slope i fear 😜
  10. So I have finally taken delivery of my new R, and so far with the limited running I have the only thing that I’m unhappy with a the unresponsive throttle feeling, it just feels very ‘damped’ is It this feeling that the peddle box corrects ?? Edit. - I hope it does cos I just ordered one 😳
