  3. I had a similar issue with my new Renault Clio back in 2005. Renault had the car on multiple occasions and could not find the fault, horrible feeling especially as they won't do anything about it even though the car is under warranty. After me pushing they eventually found the issue. Hole in one of the cylinders. Not sure if that is a difficult issue to find but I wonder if it's the same issue with this R. 4. Hi what did you do/go for in the end? Curious to know as I am looking into upgrading the audio. Ta
  5. Oh god, get me worried even more! How would I know, previous owner?
  6. That's a pragmatic approach and if I could I would have bought new but I'd already gone over my budget to buy Martha (yes that is her name lol). Learning lots as I go on. I had never even thought about the potential for the car to be ex-lease when I made the purchase but in the future it's definitely something I'll think about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Makes sense but any car can be treated badly regardless of whether it's owned or leased. It seems to me that the general consensus is, if it's not owned it's unlikely to be looked after as well as one that is owned outright. But as per my post above, I didn't wait to warm my old car up (which I owned) because I was unaware and even think about it. Which, i can imagine, there are similar R owners out there. 8. DBP, 5dr, DSG, nav, leather, rear camera, DCC AND 18" Cadiz (I prefer theses). Is ACC an option? Only downside was mileage at 26k, car was 2yr5months old (14 plate) but as I only average about 4K per year I'll probably end up bringing the miles to year ratio down. Considering I put a deposit on a 64 plate performance pack GTI, that had no nav and wasn't leather, for the same price I think I got quite lucky. Oh and it wasn't black. Can't believe I even considered any other colour!!
  9. All really good valid points so far. I can confess that my last car had a turbo and I had no idea what issues would arise from not warming the car first and therefore didn't. To be completely honest I didn't even realise I needed too until I'd had the car a few years. I never mistreated it as such but that would go some way to explain the few issues I had. It was not a lease car. I guess at the end of the day any car can be mistreated however it's more likely to be a lease that gets it the worst, is that what we are saying? And the cars that aren't looked after as well will or could cause more dollar to be spent on it in the long run. Well fingers crossed I do ok with mine then [emoji849] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks for your response. My questions where around why would thrashing it cause a problem? What problems would it cause? The cars were built to be driven to a certain style, hence race mode so why would issues arise if it is driven that way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I have to post this as I would love a response from someone who knows what or if any damage is caused. I see a lot of people advising others to steer clear of ex-lease cars, because they will more likely to be thrashed or ragged. What issues can arise from the car constantly being ragged or driven erratically? Would a DSG be able to cope better with that type of driving style? As it wouldn't red line (unless in manual)? People tune their engines so would that not put an equal amount of pressure on the engine components compared to an erratic driving style? I really don't have any idea so sorry if my questions seems stupid, I am just really interested to know. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks for posting. I was curious too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I have only ever owned 3 cars including my current R. I have never seen my first car after selling (05 plate Clio) and doubt I'll see my second (mk 5 golf sport) as I sold to we buy any car, about one month ago. However, I have now seen my parents old Touran twice since they part exchanged it, once in a nearby town and just now in my home town. Both times parked in a car park. First time I actually happened to park next to it in a different town, I couldn't believe it. Firstly because it went to auction and secondly because I live in a rather large town so didn't expect to ever see it again. It was such a well kept car and only 48k miles on the clock at the age of 11! Sadly it doesn't seem to have been looked after, which is a shame. Was just curious if anyone ever sees their old cars about and how they are holding up? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. My one and only spotted post got a response so I'm on 100% response rate! Perhaps when the car is new to you, you're more excited when you see others? I think that was probably my feeling anyway lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks for this. Unfortunately I am south east but I'll try the other two you suggested. [emoji1360] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
