Mines at VW currently, they change the broken solenoids and the mechatronics should be working again. Asked around different shops and was just told to go with VW as its dq381 and these issues are very uncommon.
-
I've already booked in with VW to get this sorted. Just reaching out to see if I'm actually the only one with these kind of issues as wasn't able to get much results while looking online. One thing is sure that Celtic Tuning software isn't going back on the car as its either the TCU software that has broken the solenoids or it was simply a crappy one straight from the factory. Can't know for sure so will have to go with TVS next.

I'm located in Finland and to my knowledge we do not have that many DSG specialists around. It seems that removing the actual mechatronics unit and shipping overseas is the only option in addition to actually getting it fixed by VW.

Celtic Tuning distributor, they have zero idea of this issue. Tells me this is the only dq381 facing any issues. Same as VW. Dunno if simply resetting gearbox and changing the oil will do anything as VW already found out the mechatronics solenoids are faulty.. they have to change the oil anyways when fixing the mechatronics unit.

Hi, I've been having the occasional "Error Transmission: You can drive on"-message once the transmission has warmed up. I can't notice anything being different than before and seems to be working as it should. It leaves a code P060700, but the warning light goes away everytime I restart the car.. Took the car to VW yesterday and they said that the mechatronics unit was faulty (three solenoids to be exact) - £1.5k bill. They were as confused as I am, this does not seem to be an issue with the newer dq381. Anyone else have these kind of issues with their DSG? Car is a 2018 Golf R Estate with 30k miles and serviced accordingly. Had a stage 1 ECU and TCU on the car and not sure if the TCU software caused this issue. VW said it could be it but they can't know for sure. Best, Antti

Alloy Wheel thread , show me what you've got !!

Mines not particularly clean due to the weather but am also a huge fan of matte bronze wheels with Lapiz. Motec Ultralight Matte Bronze 8,5x19, ET43 Still need to fit the Eibachs to get it just a tad bit lower. -
Mine has been wrapped for over a year now and haven't had a single issue. Looks clean.

Recommendations - Aftermarket wheels please

Motec Ultra Light? I bought them for the winter, can take a picture on the car after I wash it today. Not sure if helps, Lapiz blue 7.5r estate. Ordered them directly from Felgenshop Online, replied to all my emails asap and kept me up to date as they weren't in stock when put my order in. Quality is good, no complaints. And they are light plus seems to be quite strong also. -
Great numbers there. What's the current consensus on the IS38 and it's issues? Seems like insanely high numbers for the stock turbo. Can it really handle that kind of power reliably?

Awesome 😎 don't think the red clashes with the yellow at all. Might be the close up photos but to me looks very nice. Am also waiting for some matte bronze wheels (Motec Ultralight) for my Lapiz 7.5 estate, after seeing this think they'll go well with the blue as well! But again, a stunning car you got there, looks superb!

What TCU software people are running with these hybrids? Custom as well or is tvs stage 2+/3 bang on?
-
Beginning to become a bit jelly over here. All the mods planned for my car for the fall happening in this thread. Congrats, that's going to be an amazing weapon!

Nice 😎 How are you liking stage 2 so far? Would you still say that res delete with the dp is alright after driving around a bit more?
-
This is great, keep us posted! 😎 At first I thought you went with the full scorpion cat back but it's only the downpipe? If possible would love to get some sound clips with the scorpion dp and res delete, that's what I'm thinking as well. Or at least your honest opinion if it's at all bearable..

Finally got a few decent pictures of the 7.5 r estate whilst driving around Lofoten in Norway. Really pleased with the car so far!
-
That really sucks. Did anything else broke when the turbos went or have you been able to only get a new turbo and that's it?
-
Did you ever get it on the dyno?
-
Exactly as stated before, have no idea about these things and am only quoting what I've heard and read. Good that you corrected. Below is one of the responses I received when I asked about what I should do. "With L380X alone it’s a 400hp turbo. At 430+ it needs intake and downpipe which the one we done had fitted. We personally would run an intercooler but again, if you're not located somewhere warm it's not a necessity"
-
I have a 2018 R and have received couple of responses from different tuners that it would be the smartest solution to upgrade the turbo if going to Stage 2. You're still going to be upgrading the downpipe and turbo upgrade can be done simultaneously, which gives you the peace of mind and the ability to get much more power from the stage 2 tune. For example Celtic does custom tunes for CAI, downpipe and l380x and are able to produce around 430hp/600nm with that setup. Adding IC only gives you consistent power delivery when driving heavily and weather's warmer. Just what I've heard and read, not a professional by any means and really just trying to figure this all out my self as well..

I think people normally go for the TVS Stage 2+ TCU software. -
R Estate - downpipe with resonator delete
anvais replied to anvais's topic in Modifying your Golf R MK7
Hi Nige and thanks for the response! Do you happen to have any sound clips from that exact setup on a mk7 or mk7.5 estate by any chance? And are the lead times still around 4 weeks? -
R Estate - downpipe with resonator delete
anvais replied to anvais's topic in Modifying your Golf R MK7
Thanks for the reply! Sounds like the resonator is going back on once I get the downpipe fitted. Wondering now if I should just get the downpipe and their resonator from BCS and simply just skip the OEM. Anyone have any experience from this setup? I know Nige told be a while ago that would be a great combo. -
Hi, I've been debating back and forth whether or not to upgrade to Stage 2. This would require me to get a catted downpipe and I already have a res delete. Does anyone have first-hand experience if the car would be at all tolerable sound wise as the estate doesn't have any valves? Or should I immediately be putting back the OEM resonator with the new downpipe? Really loving the pops and crackles I get from just the res delete at stage 1 and am a bit worried I'd lose these when going back to stock resonator. Best, Anvais

Those do look absolutely amazing 😎 are you running any spacers or do they fit that nicely as is?
-
Estate version is valveless for both (7 and 7.5). The resonator delete really opens up the exhaust and gives you plenty of pops and bangs. I have a 2018 r estate.
