  1. That seems like a good deal. Is that EZ stuff any good? Never heard of it before but been out of the detailing game for 8 years so I’m behind the times!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Lovely looking R. Congratulations from a fellow new owner. 3 weeks in and still grinning and going by most on this forum, that never goes away! Enjoy the first few miles and good luck keeping it that clean for long [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. My car is relatively low mileage when bought - 22,000km for a nearly 2 year old car but I will put on some significant mileage as average about 500km a week between commuting and general running around. I didn’t buy the car to sit and look at it - it was bought too be used. It wasn’t a sensible financial decision that’s for sure. I just wanted something that looks good, was fast and fun when you wanted/needed it but was practical for commuting, kids, life duties etc! If I’m in a fortunate enough position in future, I will have a week day car and a weekend car. But I can’t afford that right now so I’d rather enjoy clocking up the miles behind the wheel of the R than something more sensible. I say all this 3 weeks into ownership. I may come to regret all of these decisions and the above in 12 months time. It did take me 2 years to make this decision as well!! [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Thread revival, as nudged by @Booth11. Can anyone do better? Roads here are disgusting right now - mixture of heavy mist, farmers spreading slurry and not being a decent fall of rain for a couple of weeks!
  5. Yes Rebecca, this was a before 😄Was dark by the time I collected from the valet and dirty by the next morning so no after photo's. I do like clean cars - honest. I just fell out of love with my old car about 3 years ago and stopped caring. I care again about this one, it's just a bad time of year to get back into the world of detailing!! So will not be getting the love it really deserves until we get through this damp winter and the nights start to get longer. And love that Filthy Beast Thread....I'll bring it back alive now!
  6. this post is not for the faint hearted...😂 This is what 2 weeks of Irish Roads and 750km’s do!! Not quite set back up for washing myself yet (broken power washer, lack of products, 1 year old baby!) so took her into local valet chap who does a decent job and knows how to look after cars. Will be doing some online shopping this weekend to get a few bits ordered. Planning on getting her properly detailed early Spring so will probably just keep going with a basic wash every week or 2 until then.
  7. Can't help you but looking for a response similar. Trying to work out whether to just buy black mirror caps or wrap that and few other chrome parts. Hopefully someone can help us both out 😀
  8. They've done a great job - car is looking fantastic. Thanks for posting - did not know about this place. I'm originally from Brechin - 10 mins from Montrose. My parents still live there. My Dad's just bought a F-Pace SJR and is looking for somewhere to fit some form of paint work protection to the front bumper and around the arches for stone chip protection and at the access to the boot. Based on your post, I'll reach out to them to see if they can help out!
  9. Had a quick look at the forum but hadn't signed up yet. Will do soon! Yes, that's the car. First sparked my interest in October - took a long time to get the price I wanted from them...but we got there! The low mileage, the spec and the pretty much immaculate condition was what appealed to me.
  10. Thanks @Booth11 and @Gavras - something I will look into after a few weeks of ownership! Too amused/occupied pressing the go button right now to think about the ergonomics of the shifting position.
  11. Picked the car up on Saturday and absolutely loving it so far. What a blast to drive, but remarkably refined, comfortable and dare I say it - "practical" (ignoring the MPG). Quick question though - how on earth do you keep hold of your license driving these things!!? 😂 Quick picture form collection at the dealers. Will be getting it detailed in the next couple of weeks so will post up some more scenic pictures once that's done and we get a nice sunny day!
  12. Any solutions / nice ideas for our ridiculous archaic 2/3 paper discs (Tax, Insurance, MOT) being displayed in the front windscreen? Originally lived in the UK - hated having tax disc but at least it was only one and could at least buy a nice Richbrook or Carbon one as a feature. 2 or 3 of those would just look daft. Despise the dealer branding on the current holder. Had a plain and simple black one like this on my old car to match interior (link below). Failing any ideas from yourselves, I'll just have to stick with that... https://ie.redbrain.shop/search?q=3+X+New+Black&utm_source=google&utm_medium=css-pla&gclid=CjwKCAiA6vXwBRBKEiwAYE7iS0As9DWkTqigG87fYHncGjar5LZIJA-mZSEHsltIpVmeNMxWdd7R0RoC56kQAvD_BwE
  13. Newbie question - is the changing in paddles a visual mod only, or is their benefits to he had in terms of feel/ease of use etc with some of the extended paddles you are replacing them with? My first time owning a car with paddle shift...so don’t know what I don’t know right now!
  14. Welcome Donach. Great looking car - really like that colour. Where in Ireland are you? I’m in Offaly, just on the Laois border so will also be popping into Daltons at some point for work on the car.
  15. Thanks for the welcome guys and aware that emptying my wallet is inevitable with this car. Both on the potential mods, the running costs and the fuel bills 😂
  16. Hi All As of Saturday I’ll be a Golf R owner, so after trawling the site over the last few weeks for tips and the final motivation to part with the cash, thought I’d properly sign up and say hello. Really great site, lots of useful info and some fantastic looking owner cars. I’m in Ireland (but originally from Scotland) and coming from nearly 9 years running an Alfa Giulietta 2.0 JTDM Veloce edition with upgraded 18” alloys. Lovely car, still looks stunning (in my opinion), but very practical and had 100,000 miles on the clock. Sad to see it go. Always loved my cars, so time to buy something a little more exciting before the Irish government completely price cars like this off the road (and they are already doing a good job of achieving that!) So it’s a 2018 R in Lapiz Blue with 19” Pretoria wheels. Quick pic below from the forecourt. I’ll not be heavily modding it, but I will be putting my own mark on it for sure and this site will be great inspiration. First thing will be to get it detailed and a winter seal on it next week. I do a good few miles and live in the country, so car will be dirty most of the time!! Also need to get the extended sump protector - roads over here are very variable in quality. Especially in the midlands of Ireland where we are. Will post up a few more pics post pickup and details but just wanted to say hello and no longer be a lurker!
