Quick update - after 2 visits to VW Chelmsford where they tried to resolve software issues they ended up changing the module under warranty and fingers crossed everything is as it should be and working well. Bizarre that the problem only happened when logged in as me the primary user and no issues as guest, but clearly there was something wrong. Just scared to do a software update now lol.

Any VW R car meets anytime soon?

The self levelling center caps are really great, I have them on my Golf R. A small detail that just enhances the look. I want a Tiggy R at some stage to match my golf R.

I currently have an issue with my 23 mk8 R whereby since the last software update every time I start up and I go on to DAB the screen freezes all the driver aid functions disable and it reboots itself maybe 3/4 times before it settles down. Screen goes blank etc. it’s been to main dealer and the reset and reloaded all the software, and now they have ordered a replacement module under warranty which is on back order. The car was absolutely fine since I’ve had it, and I’ve had it since it was less than a year old. Has anyone else got the same issue ?

Pan roof crack - VW wont fix under warranty

I had this exact problem on my 2019 R and VW recognised it as a defect and it was repaired under warranty - mine was VW used approved l. My car was 4 years old at the time. The dealer didn’t do the work, they got an expert in lol which was a windscreen fitter who they worked with. It was a nightmare to get it to that point though and I had lots of battles. It’s about a £1500 job and it cracks because of the adhesive used that does not flex with the car so cracked. -
Audio upgrade to Harmon kardon from normal

I’m not familiar with fender car audio kit tbh, but from a little research it’s rated ok. Personally the 6 inch sub from hk is always going to be limited because of the size. If the fender is a 6 as well I’m not sure what gain you will get -

Hi I’m sure it can be done but whether you want to is another matter. I’ve just changed out the front component speakers (mid and tweeter for a Powerbass OEM direct replacement and fitted a Powerbass 10 inch powered shallow sub to my car and it sounds much better than the Harmon Kardon set up. I will do the coaxial rears in the rear doors soon but most of the sound you hear is fronts and sub. I think the HK is a 10 speaker set up with components front and rear giving you 8 plus a decent centre on the dash and a 6 inch sub. The mids are decent but the HK sub is rubbish and won’t lift the bass like it should -

Now I have the 8v I don’t have this issue, it’s been replaced with the ‘does the sunroof button fancy working today ?’ Most of the time it does but sometimes it just says nope

It’s a recognised vw manufacturing defect not a warranty claim. That’s the problem the dealer is treating it as a used warranty claim and not as a manufacturing defect. I didn’t pay a penny and that was 12 months ago on a 2019 7.5 used approved

I would speak to vw directly particularly their warranty dept, don’t worry about the initial rejection from the call centre agent, you need to escalate to speak to a technician in their claims who will be far more sensible. Dealers don’t fight for you, they simply submit to warranty and the agent who looks at it will look for anything in the description from the dealer to reject the claim. Vw fund the part and the dealer is responsible for the 3.5 hours of labour for the glass fitter to change it and wait for it to bond. I have pictures of mine before it was fixed

Agree mileage adjustment could be the thing though. I do about 6k per annum

No I don’t pay anywhere near that. My 7.5 was 550 last year and this year my 8r is £620 with quote me happy. I’m 56 3yrs no claims, live in rural part of essex and car is on my drive. Good luck

Have to say be assist we’re brilliant. Ran full diagnostics which identified the sensor but he checked water pump and all other possibilities on my drive for about 1.5 hours. Also booked me into dealer to be fixed under warranty and gave me a lift home again, oh and sorted a hire car. So VW are a bit of a boo for me atm but assist is a great service. I told him about my temperamental electronics and he just smiled and said it won’t last as long as my mk2

Funnily enough I think I’ve had a similar issue. 2023 golf r with 9k miles, and my engine hot alarm came on when I was doing about 55. I was- mile from home so just drove it the rest of the way in limp mode. VW assist came out and analysed it to a sensor on the coolant system, but could not fix on the side of the road because the part and I think you have to drain the coolant system to replace it. My car is currently still at vw in Chelmsford being repaired. Was quite scarey and the assist guy was very good but did say it could be water pump or thermostat housing but luckily it was neither. Not sure if it’s common or we are just unlucky

If it was a stone chip there would be an impact mark which mine didn’t have
