David Davies
Good Morning Decided to register on the forum, after spending a week or two lurking.😃 Bought the Wife a Polo R-line a few weeks ago, and was pretty much blown away on its wee performance. So Decided to chop the Transporter in and buy a new golf. Test drove both a Gti and R last week both manual Versions, and again Was totally blown away with both Car's. Decided I think or a R 😁 Looking for the Best price on New, and have been offered 9% off list for a new one. Ive seen people mention 16-20% is this Achievable? Wont be looking to lease etc, this is a cash sale, and im going to blow the Kid's inheritance. Decided on a 5dr Dsg Pret's Sunroof keyless Reversing Cam 90% tints Gloss Mirrors. However I do like Tumeric Yellow.😬 camelsac2002 and Naz7r

Without re-doing the maths from my own inquiries back in February, 15% might be achievable through a broker like DTD or Nationwide Cars? Some on here say that they managed to get their local dealer to match the broker quote, but I didn't quite manage that. I wanted to go through my local dealer, but using a Nationwide quote (in my case) as leverage certainly helped negotiate a good deal. Was the 9% offer from a main VW dealer? If so, I think you should be able to do better than that. Others may prove me wrong, but I think 16-20% is very optimistic! Nice to be in a cash buyer position, but you might miss out on incentives to use VW (PCP) finance (first two services free, plus a £1000 deposit contribution). Once done, you can pay off the finance and retain the benefits - unless anything has changed recently. Others will know! Very nice spec. I went Lapiz blue, but the turmeric yellow is definitely growing on me. Just have a think about black prets; I think they would look brill with the yellow. mickR, David Davies and camelsac2002
David Davies
Hi Phil, thanks for the reply. 9% was from a main dealer for Cash, 12% with finance. Not in a position to apply for finance, recently became self employed. First colour choice is Indium grey with silver Pret's. Tumeric would have black Pret's. Id be looking to get the finance discount inline with the cash discount offered, as I see it, my money will be in Vw bank account for months prior to me actually receiving the car. Booth11
Welcome David. Kids can earn their own dosh, spend it. Looks a nice spec, are you brave enough to go for yellow, lol, if so, black Prets are a must. David Davies
tweaked9107
Nice spec. As said I think your best bet is to use carwow, drive the deal and nationwide and take the best quote into your dealer. Say this is the best offer you've received and if they get within the same ballpark go for it. DTD got me to about a 13-14% discount but I went with my local dealer to make things easier and paid slightly more. Personally I hate the Tumeric yellow. If you start to lean towards it I'd suggest you go look at one out in the day light when its cloudy. They always look good inside under the dealership lights. If you still like it after that go for it, although you'd probably be the first lol. David Davies and camelsac2002
David Davies
Thanks for the Replies, will look at the Brokers mentioned. As it's been previously mentioned, i will probably end up paying slightly more from my local dealer, but want to be armed with all the right information, when it comes down to drinking coffee with the sales man, and haggling over Carmat's, tank of fuel etc. PhilC22
camelsac2002
Welcome to the world of Rness David! You won't be disappointed! I bought my mk 7 new and used a Carwow quote as leverage to get a deal and full tank of fuel etc. Got £5000 of extras for pretty much zero! Don't know about 16 - 20% but was happy with my price! Didn't bother with keyless as I was wary of theft issues and locking keys in the car (some here have done it!) and didn't worry about the camera as I have sensors and also drive a hoofing great crane so if I can't reverse a car after driving a crane, something's up! Bare in mind somethings are standard on the mk 7.5 now but this is my spec:Tech pack incorporating Dynaudio (brilliant!) and Discover pro navWinter packPretsDCC - essential for me with the PretsDarker tintsLapiz blueHave fun speccing your car and then just enduring the wait! guy1
To the club. Take DTD quote to your broker and see if he can match it. Mine did camelsac2002

David Davies
Just thought id update. Finally going for a test drive in a Dsg R today, although id pretty much decided on a Dsg box anyway. Dealer has just found a 7.5R in the correct colour, but isn't quite specked with what I want, and I think some of the options aren't worth the extra price. But it is higher specked than what I was going to buying new. It is the same price as a new one tho. Major dilemma 😂 Edited June 26, 2017 by David Davies
Leo9
Surely they'll do something to incentivise you to take the "2nd-hand" car instead of a brand-new one to the spec you actually want? I hope you've gone armed with the DTD, CarWow and Nationwide pricing on the latter? Good luck whatever you decide. camelsac2002
