Thanks all for the feedback. Much appreciated.

The Nav in the second screen I cannot stop. I have set it as Audio and also AVG MPG but whatever I have there, as soon as the Navigation starts it is replaced by map directions, so cannot see Audio or MPG etc. Very strange.

I'll look into it further. Thanks again for your help.

Did you try it with Waze or only native Nav app (Google/apple maps) ?

I think if it’s not native it won’t pop the directions on the dash

(at least that’s how it works on my mk8, albeit in the top and not the side)

Thank you my friend, yes you are absolutely right, the other day I was on a dual carriage way and in a blink of an eye I was at 95Mph but it felt like I was doing 65Mpg and considering 70 is maximum on any type of road over here in the uk I will have to be careful.

Had that in my S3 and that’s why I always drive with exhaust sound at maximum (dynamic in S3, Race in 8R) but I do turn off the soundaktor, so it is external and not internal (fake) noise. Helps me be more in touch with my speed and not accidentally coast at 90mph.

Hi all.  I took delivery of my 8.5R last week and I can't seem to find if there's an adjustment to lower the dipping passenger mirror further when in reverse.  It seems to just dip slightly.  Is that it?  No more configuration available?

When you are in reverse with the mirror dipped, adjust it to where you want it to point to. It will remember it as the dipped position, but will return to the original setting in normal position, once you are driving (above 14mph).

Pay attention that the mirror adjustment button (or joystick) on the drivers door need to be rotated to the passenger door mirror, for the dip to occur (if it’s the same as the mk8).

Hi All, hope this is the right place to post this.

It seems I got a stone stuck between my rear passenger brake disc and its pad, and it has left a score line in the disc.  Do I need to get this replaced?

I’d get it to a shop so they can hoist it on a lift, take the wheel off, and try to remove it. If you think you have the abilities to do that yourself, you may try.

If it is a very small pebble and you think it will go away on its own, you can just keep driving. Myself I can’t stand the noise a stone in the brakes sometimes makes.

To add to @AHG response, there's an important equipment requirement for "mirror dip" to function properly. The external passenger mirror needs to have the memory module installed. This is the device that stores the position coordinates of the passenger mirror before the mirror-dip facility starts. Without the memory module, mirror-dip often works - but the mirror doesn't return to the correct starting position.

I assume that mirror-dip was enabled in this car from the factory. If so, then I also assume that the memory module has been factory installed.

The instructions for setting mirror-dip are as follows:

Storing front passenger exterior mirror settings for reversing

  • Select a valid vehicle key for saving the settings. (yes, the mirror-dip position depends on which ignition key is used)
  • Unlock the vehicle using this key.
  • Switch on the electronic parking brake.
  • Switch on the ignition.
  • Put the gearbox into neutral.
  • Activate the reverse gear exterior mirror lowering function using the MENU.
  • Select reverse gear.
  • Adjust the exterior mirror on the front passenger side so that you have a good view of the kerb area.
  • The settings for the mirror position will be saved automatically and assigned to the vehicle key that is used to unlock the vehicle.

Selecting the settings for the front passenger exterior mirror

  • Turn the rotary knob for the exterior mirrors to position R.
  • With the ignition switched on, select reverse gear.
  • The front passenger exterior mirror will move out of the position saved for reversing when the vehicle is driven forwards faster than approximately 15 km/h (9 mph) or when the rotary knob is moved out of position R into another position.

Thanks sir.  Will give this a bash along with the extended advice from Don.

Superb.  Thanks for the detail Don.  Will report back once attempted.

It is R for me (EU spec)

But I thought it was L for Aus/UK cars

BTW, you have to be on that position with the selector, to adjust the dip as well.

Yes, R is for left hand drive cars, where the right hand side of the car is nearest the kerb when parallel parking, and L for right hand drive cars and the left hand side of car is kerbside.

@AHG: Indeed. Australia's colonial masters gave us lots of things including cars with the steering wheel on the right (meaning "correct") side and our current head of State (King Chuck). The former is good -- that latter is not!!
