Sadly I’m beginning to think that amalgamating the EV software into Ice cars is never going to work. Such a shame as the car is awesome otherwise. I don’t recall ever hearing of this issue on the mk8R even. IF that is the case then it appears to be an issue that specific to the 8.5R. I assume it would be separate to the new infotainment anyways?

AHG
Personally I love manual mode but get to use it very scarcely So it would bother me when daily driving but I would want it fixes eventually I do think it is only a software malfunction as I believe (despite some claims) that no hardware has been changes in the steering wheel and its surroundings (including the manual shifting paddles). Again I assume it runs the same as the 7.5 DSG did?
mahalo
Hmm where has the connection to EV software being incorporated into the DSG software for the 8.5R. This is incorrect. Nearly every EV on the market does not have a gearbox - the only two that do are the Porsche Taycan and the Audi E-Tron GT that have a 2 speed gearbox. I don't recall being unable to use manual mode (paddles) being a gremlin on the 8R and I am not sure I recall it being mentioned as a gremlin on the R20. It therefore appears to be a problem confined to the 8.5R. VW has presumably done some changes for the 8.5R to the software and presumably to the steering wheel/paddles etc. It is therefore a case of working through the problem in a methodical and logical manner to determine the cause of the issue. I don’t have info but I don’t think the wheel interface is the same (and I assume that is where the problem lies) the gearbox I. itself is a 2nd gen DQ381 (the 7.5 and S38V had the first gen)

Isn’t the the 8.5 infotainment system from the I’d 4 ? I was assuming the DSG box and paddles/tech are from previous gen’s? 7.5 etc. Unless they have changed it? I didn’t say they incorporated it into the DSG box! Mixing the old and new tech from EVs are not a mix seemingly. I’ve not come across any S3 posts with the similar issue? AHG
Not in the mk8 as well which is the closest sibling I think it’s the steering wheel interface software which has been claimed to change in the 8.
Rossdh91
Another issue encountered yesterday, noticed it a while ago but only figured out exactly what it was. The font driver side wiper is whacking the weather strip on the edge of the windscreen occasionally. Doesn’t do it all the time but it can easily be replicated. Not sure if this is an issue with the Bosch wipers or not. Anyone else had this?

Not whilst driving, but when I was cleaning the car, and pressed the Infotainment button to activate the wiper service mode, it moved the driver’s wiper to a position beyond its normal range. Happened only once and I've not noticed any impact on normal wiper function since.
