Scudgie
Now my Engine warning light is on 100% of the time. My nearest dealer is Group 1 VW and their attitude is that if the warning light is static and not flashing, then it's safe to drive and I should use VW Recovery if I break down. When I complained about this I was then bounced around different departments before ending up with the booking line again. I won't be using them again. I can’t help you with the warning light buddy, but I can offer sympathy. You’re being treated terribly by your local dealer! Shoddy post-purchase aftercare. Is there another dealer you could approach that’s near-enough? Unfortunately you’ll have to become persistent with ‘Group 1 VW’ and possibly escalate your lack of customer care. Find the dealership managers email and tell them of your recent customer service run-around. Might help. Hope you get a better response soon. The other nearest dealer is a further 20 miles away. I rang them and they said the earliest they could look at the car is September !! I feel stupid for not getting clarification that they mean September 2025 The world has gone mad!!

Are they essentially saying that you have to wait until your already booked appointment in June before they’ll look at the car, despite a permanent engine light on the dash? And cross your fingers and hope the car doesn’t conk out between then and now! That’s is terrible service (lack of) by the dealership. I would escalate it John. nn7man
I'd escalate to the top! Group 1 UK CEO is Mark Raban, email mark.raban@group1auto.com Good luck! Scudgie and Hawaii-Five-O 1
Booth11
Just phoned my dealership to report the paddle issue and also mentioned the multiple warnings I had (I think due to battery voltage being low) and they definitely want the car in to check it and so they can officially log it with VW. I explained about the known paddle issue and gave them the latest info that @TheJetMan very helpfully posted up in the dedicated paddle issue thread. It’s going in next Thursday 22nd May. That's reassuring because I was beginning to think my conspiracy theory about VW was actually true.

Yes quite the contrast in response between our dealerships John. I’m not expecting them to find any evidence of the paddle issue since nothing looks to be logged on the scan I did, but at least they are willing and insist on looking into it, and hopefully note that I’ve reported it happening so that when VW do have a resolution it can be applied. They should see all the other faults that were logged when my car had its bongfest.
Scudgie
@dv52 In response to your questions: 1. No, I'm using the white dongle. 2. Yes. 3. Yes 4. Yes 5. Yes 6. No, I'm unable to connect to it. 7. Often there is no message, but occasionally I get the message to check the ignition is on. Note that regardless of whether I choose continue or try again, it still fails to connect. Please see screenshots below. Thanks
mahalo
Not sure it matters but the engine code for the 8.5R is DNFF not DNFG.
AHG
You should email the, and ask if the old gen dongle is still supported and works with new cars. Perhaps they stopped selling those. In my experience they are fast to respond and very helpful and forthcoming (in email). support@obdeleven.com Scudgie
Booth11
For what it’s worth, I’m using the black second generation dongle. @Scudgie, it looks like your obdeleven might be picking up a mk8R as opposed to mk8.5R, hence the DNFG engine code. When you go into Garage in the app and click on your car, what information is displayed?

I've since removed it (and any other car) from garage in the hope that would clear the connection problem and seek to upload new car info but to no avail. I then deleted the device within the App unpaired the Bluetooth connection from my phone and restarted my phone. The App then connected successfully but froze (see image showing connection was successful tonight) but hasn't connect since.

nn7man
https://support.obdeleven.com/en/articles/9187989-does-obdeleven-work-with-vag-and-bmw-vehicles-manufactured-from-2024 They admit the nextgen black dongle can only scan the gateway module but not all the others on VW 2024+ : Volkswagen Group (VAG) vehicles New Volkswagen Group (VAG) models from 2024 have updated security features (UNECE R155 and R156) to protect the car’s software. This new layer of protection, sometimes called “SFD2,” safeguards the car’s control units from unauthorized access, particularly for updates performed over the air (OTA). Under these new security measures, OBDeleven can only fully communicate with the car's main diagnostic part – the gateway control unit. This means we can’t fully scan or interact with other control units as we do with other car models.
