Hi all, I have a 16 plate R with only 6k on the clock....and a very good friend working for VW who has supplied my last 3 Golfs to me. I have looked at the new FL model and in Indium Grey with Black Prets looks amazing and i was quite interested... I asked the question , and here was the answer...remember these are mates rates... £2700 from him (includes the Dealer Contribution of £1000)...the rest , loyalty discount etc etc £3700 from me and my payments go up £60 PCM... I chose a DSG 5 door (same as mine) Grey with prets (mine is lapis with prets) Keyless (same as mine) Dynaudio (same as mine) Sunroof (same as mine) Normal entertainment (mine has Pro Nav) Mine also has reversing camera... To get the payments to match mine they need another £2k....! So for a car with just 10bhp more , a different dash screen and a lesser spec i have to part with nearly £6k...my answer...NOT A CHANCE IN HELL MATE! My mate agreed and thought it was a joke... It was only an enquiry but told me all i need to know about VW at the moment , they are ripping off the people who like me could be interested in the new model but trying to get us to part with our versions at a cut down price...my advice , stay away and wait for the MK8. I love my R , its a great all round beast but i must admit nudging £40k for a Golf feels wrong now and i think i may go to another brand next change over...

Does anyone know if the sport menu/gauges can be added as an update when the car goes in for a service?

Anybody else jumping ship to a Focus RS?

I must admit i weighed up both cars when i first saw the press release of the RS ages ago but when you see the real one i made my mind up in 2 mins... 1. The blue on the release version is darker and not available...you get a baby blue!! YUK....Lapiz blue is such a good colour , just as good as sprint blue i had on my old RS4. 2. The interior is rank , looks old now and looks cheap 3. Only a manual option...? Fords auto box is rubbish anyway so not sure if this bothers me but the gearstick looks like it will snap off 4. Drift mode?? Why? 5. It looks like it has been driven through Halfords , so boy racer looking. The fact is its ugly and looks cheap. The R looks expensive , classy and a real sleeper. The R is one of the best cars i have owned and its my 38th! Ive had loads of Fords in the past from a Mk2 XR2 , Sierra Bosworth , S1 RS Turbo and a Mk1 FRS but they got worse as they got newer...now i wouldn't go near Ford at all. The RS division has lost its way from the greats they used to produce and it shows. Golf R any day of the week , will keep mine until the Mk8 R and that better be good to make me part with mine!

Weirdly , similar experience for me.....just got into my Lapiz blue R DSG 2 days ago from a 2014 MK7 Golf GTI Manual....a massive step forward in terms of how it feels , drives and moves. Ive had DSG before and a lot of quick cars but this package is made in heaven. Very surprised how good the R is and how much of a step up it is. Enjoy!

Thanks , no just used the iron cleaner and hyper wash and it came off
-
No tints....just normal glass...looks like it has though from certain angles..
-
Photos sorted.... Picked her up from the dealer with NO wash or wax...just wrapping etc taken off... Then: Watered down Iron Remover Watered down Hyper Wash Watered down Shampooed Watered down Towel dried Bilberry wheel cleaner Rim wax Poorboys tyre clean Poorboys Nattys Blue Pootboys EXP Sealant Dodo Juice Menthol Glass cleaner G Techniq fabric care sealant Obligatory Goodwood FOS and Rossi sticker applied! Came out well i think....will clay mitt the outside in a few weeks and re-seal. Lapiz blue really takes polish well...same as the black cars

After ordering 8th Jan...picked her up this morning and spent the last 5 hours washing , detailing and getting her sorted... 1st impressions..... Lapiz blue is an amazing colour , great shine and looks great in the sun Pretorias also look good , fill the arches and come with continentals which is a bonus! No issues with comfort of ride...its a sports car and meant to feel like one , if its to harsh for you then either you getting to old or should or ordered a normal golf! DSG is great , just got out of a manual MK7 GTI and prefer this and the paddles , missed DSG from a GTD i had a few years ago Dynaudio and Tech pack.....had Dynaudio in the GTI , for me its a MUST , sound quality is great....good to have NAV and a few other toys which i havent played with yet. Bigger screen looks better. Sunroof , just picked up my son and drove home with it open and the sun (yes sun!) coming through.....so glad i ticked the box , gonna be great when hot. Standard seats look great , very comfortable...i wouldn't go for leather personally as had it before...£2k extra....??? Not worth it in my opinion. Great car....glad i didn't go for a FRS as the more i look at them , the more i think cheap chav rubbish. Looking forward to putting some mileage on her soon! For those waiting delivery , you're going to love it!

Feels a lot different , more solid and the 70bhp difference is noticeable , more than i thought it would be. Have only done about 15 miles so far as been detailing it all day since i picked it up at 9am. -
