VW approved garage doesn't mean anything. I had mine repaired by one and sent it back twice. Utterly useless, I said from the start I'm a fussy customer, overspray on side skirt and loads of blemishes in resprayed panels. Eventually sorted it to a reasonable standard but not a pleasant experience. Find a local bodyshop with good reviews and recommendations, if the guys who own it are car enthusiasts they will look after you.

Thanks for advice. Yes I can do put bikes in car with seats folded no problem. But when we want to go on holiday with bikes which includes the wifes( so 3 bikes) need to carry outside. Just needed an excuse to get an R estate really. GTI is good every day car but when we go away just not big enough, the wife does insist on taking kitchen sink with us!

After advice on carry bikes on a Golf . I have a 5 dr Gti PP 7.5 at moment and as son is getting older we're getting into cycling. I don't want a rear bike rack and don't want to put a roof rack on either. So thinking of getting R estate so can use roof rails and have more space in back for our adventures. Another option I like is rear bike carrier which you attach to towbar, but can you get a detachable tow bar preferably factory fit on an R estate? Appreciate any advise and photos of how you carry your bike. Wasn't sure if this should be in mk7 chat or general under bike thread so mods please feel free to move. Thanks

Swines! I know the feeling came back to mine with dent in rear door and wheel arch. No note but did a bit of detective work and found an old lady had reversed of her drive into my car. Got her details and her son sorted it through her insurance. Got it back today but have to have side skirt replaced as it had over spray on it cos they couldn't be bothered to take it off. Rest if work seems good. Hope you get yours sorted just very frustrating.
