I,ve been waiting for this and can now confirm i want to change the A45S for a 8.5R Estate #dadcar Do we know what the paint colour options are going to be?

I really like the saloon but just a managed to spec one on the Sherman website to 76000 euros!

Agreed gents and I didn’t get into price. I specced my 8R to around 47000, 42500 after discount. I got the A45S (non plus) at 45500 3 months old with 900 miles on. Because of the stronger residual on the A45 it was cheaper per month.

Having recently moved from a 7.5 with DCC, 19s and PS4S to an A45S with non adaptive, 19s and PS4S (I nearly ordered an 8R) my opinion on ride quality. The 7.5 was an incredible daily car and I was nearly always in individual with comfort suspension which was soft but I always found the damping quite crashy. The A45S is without a doubt firmer but from what I can tell much better damped. It feels closer to normal on the 7.5 to me but less crashy and for me completely fine for everyday use. For what it’s worth tyre noise from the A45S is louder than the R but for me in every other way it’s a better car. I loved my R and to this day I will still say it’s the better all around car as a daily but the A45 delivers all the excitement the Golf was missing. Right now I know I’m in the right car and the one that feels like a sports car in a hatch body opposed to a hatchback that can turn the wick up when you want. Saying all that and if I’m not forced into electric I can see an 8R estate as my next move when I need the size.

The Golf 8 is a great package and I’ve been shopping for my 7.5 replacement. I wanted a change so picking up and A class at the weekend. It just ends 45S instead!

I think I’m going to have to go with a nearly new A45S. Anyone moved from an R to one?

I don’t think this is an accident from VW Group. And for once I think there marketing makes sense The main focus on the R communications is the driving experience, performance, drift mode, better brakes etc. The enthusiast wants and is been pushed towards the more performance focused car. The S3 is very much for the premium hatch buyer who is likely looking for the second or third car in the household and will choose an S3 Vorsprung simply because it’s the ‘best’ A3 and they can afford it.

S3 Saloon is a really good looking car in the right spec. It’s just a real shame they stuck with Haldex and didn’t use the new system been used on the 8R. I would have to go for the 8R just for the better drive.

I think blacks my favourite but the new lower grille really stands out in white and 0 cost!

Yeah I think I will go white just to save some money for other goodies....

I see the interior quality mentioned a lot particularly in relation to price. Do we think it’s not the level of quality for the price or for a Golf? I always thought the interior on the 7 and 7.5 besides looks was edging into Audi for and feel levels. Has the overall quality taken a hit or is it not just not in line with the price of the R. Agreed the A35/45 interior looks good but some of the materials feel cheap and the overall for and finish doesn’t match the look. If I was buying for the Interior the M135i takes it for me, not the flashiest to look at but the fit and finish is as good as a 3 or 5 series. Guess I need to sit on an 8R for myself but currently I’m still thinking to keep the 7.5 at a much lower monthly cost and stage 1 it.

Maybe it’s 316 wheel horse power. Or they have really worked on minimising drivetrain losses.

I had to have silver Prets and mirror caps for that throwback B7 RS4 in Daytona vibe.

This. I quite like some of his content but it’s fairly convenient that a 7.5 R Estate is the best car in the world just as he is selling one. Will be back to TCR this TCR that as soon as it’s gone.

If I go for an 8R will def be in Estate form.

The M340i looks incredible but BMWs used PCP rates are garbage, just can’t make it stack up. Seem to be able to get a better deal on a C43 and I actually prefer the interior.

Really fancy a C43 Estate next....

^ This.... I would prefer to change the 7.5 for an A45s (CLA45s) but the prices are ridiculous.

If I get one I have a to tick Akra this time.
