  1. This thread needs a name change! [emoji172] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  2. A manual box in a lot of cars is a joy, for example I would never have anything but a manual mx5 and our manual Swift is lovely to drive, I do think the DSG is a different animal though, I love it and you couldn't pay me enough to swap it for a manual, I think the fact some performance cars are offered with manual boxes is great I have no issue at all with it, why would anyone? 3. I used to work over the QE2 bridge and regularly got stuck in slow traffic killed my left knee [emoji24] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  4. I'm sure on Google maps GPS about 76 shows as 70 as already mentioned by a couple of people so [emoji1696] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  5. Would never have happened if you had the speed limiter set... Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  6. Fingers crossed if the speedo was showing 76 then you were maybe not even doing 70 [emoji1696] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  7. The joy is its not really an auto or at least not what most people think an auto is, that's the beauty of it. It's a manual that can be left to do its own thing or driven exactly how you want (with a few tweaks) Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  8. Yeah I couldn't drive a manual again for more than the odd trip. Drove my manual 330ci to Wales the other weekend and was fine but was mostly motorway and a nice clear run [emoji106] As you say respect to the manual guys as long as they don't expect us all to live in the past [emoji1787] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  9. Maybe get a model T Ford for the complete engagement experience [emoji1787] A few years back I would have been in 100% agreement as I had only driven slush box autos but honestly a DSG can be just as engaging as a manual so I think the old petrol head / manual argument is getting less and less relevant Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  10. It was sitting in slow moving traffic that did it for me and being on the outskirts of London it's not an unusual occurrence unfortunately... Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  11. Exact reason I went DSG [emoji1787] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  12. Sounds like a plan! Glad you are enjoying the car and exploring its potential Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  13. Good luck, if you get the engine with a stock turbo you can just get a supercore from Littco to upgrade that or of course go full fat new hybrid turbo whatever comes in your budget and plans etc [emoji106] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  14. Amd yeah makes sense to upgrade downpipe, intercooler and check water pump and thermostat housing but any decent garage would pressure check the cooling system anyway [emoji106] Good luck sourcing an engine, you could if course think about looking fit a 2.5l 5 cylinder engine [emoji6] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  15. Hopefully@BlackGolfR will see this as he went through a similar experience a while back with requiring a complete new engine [emoji106] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  16. Still sounds a lot, I would say you should be able to get a low mileage engine with turbo for around £2.5k Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  17. I expect the arb is cheaper than the set of clubs and trolley [emoji1787] @Bob has owned an R Estate and an R hatch so I would take his opinion as being a pretty good one personally [emoji106] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  18. I was worried my starter motor was fubar but luckily it was 'just' the battery Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  19. Yes could be a sign that the battery is past its best and /or a cell is not charging, best to get it checked out rather than leave it and it let you down just when you need it [emoji106] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  20. Awwe I'm sure you will make another friend one day @Bob [emoji24] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  21. Oh I'm with you but the tyre nazi brigade on here will shout you down quoting Internet articles about idiots with bald tyres having accidents... If only I had slightly lighter brake disks on the front of my R then it would handle like a lotus I'm sure [emoji41] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  22. What!!!! Put the best rubber on the front! Are you trying to kill the guy [emoji24] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  23. I keep a Helix and spare in the boot does that count [emoji1787] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  24. You know my thoughts on people that add £200 springs and say that the car handles better, or people that fit slightly lighter brake disks and say they can feel the difference on the motorway in a 1.5 tonne hatchback...Agree about DCC I'm glad my car turned out not to have it (was advertised as being DCC) as all I read is owners saying how good comfort mode is, not something I am bothered about in the slightest! I guess because my last 4/5 cars were RWD I was more conscious of understeer than the usual FWD R driver because I found the arb really made a nice difference to how my car handles now, that and better stopping power has made the biggest difference to my enjoyment of the car [emoji16] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  25. +1 to that [emoji106] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
