From what I have read and seen review wise the Motorola device is not that great, quite laggy and disconnects randomly. I was one of the first to get an AAWireless device and recommended one to a friend, we are both very happy with them, they just work and connect up as quickly as wired. Not easy to get hold of one but supply is gradually improving, good luck sourcing one 👍

And the filthiest haldex filter award goes to...

Oil change done early but I think around 12k miles in 2 years, judging by haldex % and amps displayed it does get a workout on most journeys 💪 -

Helix Audio Upgrade Fitted - REALLY IMPRESSED
SpursMadDave replied to GE90's topic in Modifying your Golf R MK7
In the hatch you can fit both a spare wheel and a helix using a longer bolt but the boot floor will not sit on top unfortunately, it does in an estate. -
Good quality cable is the answer, but I can also recommend AAWireless as it also allows higher resolution and splitscreen. I flip between that and just running android apps via a wireless hot-spot for fullscreen loveliness 😎

Good to catch up with my old mate Bob and also a few other forum members, thanks for organising Ian and nice to meet Damian, Sam, Andy & Jon. Quite a few other 7 and 7.5 Rs not from the forum and only one 8R luckily which was a trade car and seemed to have no issues as not running! It did have its engine cover removed (obviously for H&S reasons) and panel gaps were awful along with all the other cost cutting!

Seen the same kit on AliExpress for £100, but says comes without parameters whatever that means? Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk

* Note - some Indy places are also [emoji90] I used VW while in warranty and it helped with a few things that maybe I wouldn't have got if I didn't have full VWSH. Now I am out of warranty I may still go to VW for the yearly service next year not sure yet, I have had lots of work done at 2 local Indy garages and not been disappointed so have good options [emoji16] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk

I live in a flat with a seperate garage that has no power supply or windows, mine is a daily driver so no issues, surely a short drive once a week is not a problem? Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk

Easiest way to tell is at cold start the valves open, after a minute or so they should close and the note should change significantly, if it doesn't then the exhaust valves are coded permanently open [emoji106] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk

Yeah you do, although there is a USB device coming soon that will allow wireless hopefully. You can connect wirelessly via software but it's a bit of a pain... Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk

Just got a delivery, Audison speakers and amp, sub is on backorder for a couple of weeks but I can get on this weekend and remove the Helix and get everything fitted bar the sub... Doesn't look too tricky [emoji848][emoji849] Should be a nice upgrade, I was always happy with the Helix but also wanted something that little bit better, with this being a DIY job and working well with the existing mib setup I thought I would give it a try [emoji106] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk

Exactly why I haven't bothered retrofitting the AID, if it showed googlemaps then I would have been tempted! Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk

All depends how you use stuff I guess I just use AndroidAuto and Spotify for music so don't use the buttons much anyway, volume & track etc from the steering wheel Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk

I used to use waze but prefer Google maps now, if it's a planned trip I download the maps at home before I leave especially if it's in the middle of nowhere and likely no or poor signal [emoji106] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk

All depends how you fine the DSG box and of course how you use it, if you don't have an issue with how the box works in auto and don't see a need for full manual control then I don't see a need for it, but honestly for me it's superb [emoji106] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk

Carplay is Apple AppConnect via your phone, CarNet is a VW connection software that could be fantastic but in reality is quite pants... Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk

The main thing especially on the 6 speed DQ250 is the shift points. I found that the box raced through the gears to get to 6th in D mode, and when you swapped to S mode the slightest lift of your right foot and it would change down. Yes you can use the paddles or better still manual mode but sometimes you just want to leave it to its thing. It also speeds up the changes, increases the amount of torque that the box can handle and gives you true manual mode ie won't change up for you at any point in manual. If you are still running your JB4 it compliments that really well, I still had my JB4 when I got the TVS stage 2+ done [emoji106] Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
