Dazie00 s Lapiz R long term review and Mods !
Daniel jackson replied to dazie00's topic in 7R Members Rides
If your looking to sell the time is now really prices are crazy, at work we struggle to buy them as we can't compete with the prices of them. I got mine cheap and if I sold it now I'd take away £7k, not sure where it'll stop. -
Any updates on this pal

Evening all, So Remap day happened at R tech, My car managed 320bhp standard with bolt ons and 403bhp and 393lb ft at stage 2. My turbo had a bit more play than they'd like so they played as safe as they could be, safe to say it goes well. Unfortunately the Dsg map isn't great and will need attention from R tech once they can fit me in. I didn't notice whilst I was down there as I didn't want to try my luck in getting zapped by any camera's but once near familiar roads I got chance to use the car properly its when I noticed the gear change issue. 2 gear changes that are causing a issue are 2 to 3 and 4 to 5, when on power going up from 2 to 3 there's a very noticeable bang in to the next gear. No matter the driver profile or if your in D S or manual mode if you're on power it will bang in to the next gear. You can modulate the throttle and it will change up much better but once you know its there you can tell something isn't right. 4 to 5 it isn't half as bad but again it's not as it should be. I was advised to do a few Dsg resets but alas its no different. Maybe the shift points are not right or the dsg calibration is off but it does put you off some spirited driving. Once that's sorted I can use the car properly. The engine tune itself is decent and has been done as to not over stress the turbo, also I have noticed my oil temps are a good few degrees lower since being remapped. Motorway Fuel economy on the way back home was pretty decent as for around town let's not talk about that. Exhaust note has changed seems alot angrier and does a fair amount of burbling on the over run, not bad for a sports cat, deres and stock back box. I think the future for this a L380x for reliability sake and tune it to keep the power and torque similar to what it is now. I also fancied a change of wheels, spied some XXRs for not a lot of cash so grabbed them. They are ET35 8.75" x18 a tad aggressive offset it has to be said but they will do for the time being. Thanks for looking.

Looks tidy that, if your looking for remapping at R tech they are upto 3 months waiting list so far, I'm booked in this month. Think lapiz blue mirrors would look cool too.

Do love this colour

7.5s look ace inside little bit jelly of the virtual cockpit haha, we have had loads of the face-lifts in work would love to do the dial upgrade but it's a massive cost in my eyes. I had the pleasure of testing out a revo stg 3+ 7.5 R and once past 4k it was like a missile.

Quick update, Thought I was in a good position for the upcoming remap, just needed to service the car again and fit the intercooler. Was out and about last Sunday and was stuck in a hour long que for the tip, as it was a pretty nice day I had the windows open. I could smell coolant, later in the evening I was out picking the wife up from work and gets a bing check coolant level.. Great. Remap is on 23/03/21 and rolling up to R tech with a leaking waterpump isn't a great start. Rang Tps was quoted £400 for the water pump, thermostat and gaskets and that was the best price I could get. I asked them to save as a quote and ill get back to them, fast forward a few days and rings tps. Chap said oh it's not been saved on quote so he redid it however this time he's asking did I want the part that goes from the oil cooler to the thermostat. I asked did the little belt come with the kit for the water pump.. Nope it doesn't so ordered that too price came in at £372 inc vat all in. Whats strange is I ordered more bits but it was cheaper this time round anyway it was with me the next day. Today was the day, roped in my vag mechanic friend as he just has a knack for this kind of thing and whilst I was there the MTC intercooler could go on, seeing as the headlights are coming out it made sense to change the bulbs for 6k ones. My friend doesn't do struggling so he decided the whole front end should come off and have direct access to the water pump. As it turns out I have the plastic waterpump which has the letter G on the end of the part no.. the latest revision is M I believe so I reckon mine was original. Not many pictures from today but having a ramp does help anyway a couple of pics

I rang TPS for a fuel filter on a 18 plate R and was told they don't have one fitted. Bizzare
-
Lovely colour this, wheels suit it so well
-
Yeah definitely gives it another look. I do love bargain hunting, managed to get hold of a MTC intercooler for £200 I think another service and some fresh plugs before the remap should be on the cards.

Evening all, bit on a go slow for keeping this updated, Not much to report really. Slid across some black ice a while back and curbed a wheel and adjusted my tracking so had to sort those out. I'd been keeping my eyes pealed for a Abt style grill as I'm allergic to buying things new and one popped up for £70. Painted the front badge to match the wheels as it was a black badge. Ill also be looking mod the grill further to remove the abt badge holder and redo the mesh in the future. Next upgrades will be a intercooler and a remap and dsg tune at R-tech in March. Thanks for looking.

Cheers pal. Another quick update decided to give the grill a quick black out until I get myself a ABT grill

Good Evening all, Not much to report as I've been busy with work and there's been no more R's come through work that I can relive some of its parts haha. I have finally got round to painting the wheels and some VW overlays for the center caps. Whilst I was collecting center caps today I also picked up a set of 10mm hub centric spacers for the front. Quickly got them fitted up and I have to say the wheels fit the arches perfectly imo, rears are 15mm. Few pics
-
Not heard of either tbh, im interested in the fitment of your twintercooler id read that it wasn't possible with the active cruise control radar in the lower grill. R-tech in Nuneaton will do remaps for £450 which also includes a dsg map.
-
I've not long bought one for my R £250 had mine and my wife's initials on it and in that price it included the transfer fee. Illegally spaced ones just ask for trouble imo
-
Cracking looking car this Credit to you
-
I like that alot black and grey suit it so well
-
Yeah I don't like the audi caps either but its better than having none, need to measure the size as they are bigger than the oem ones.
-
Will be doing the wheels in a grey as that's what I think will suit that design. But I really don't mind that silver in all honesty, they need a refurb so ill make a decision when I'm about to paint them.

Thanks for the comments..Yeah there's a few benefits from working where I do, the Cadiz won't be going back on nor will I be jumping on the Pretoria band wagon. A wheel colour change is next although I thought the silver matched the other silver bits about the car. Now there is another R at work which has a few more bits..

So after a few days I couldn't resist temptation so Facebook market place was hit up.. Racingline panel filter and intake block off doodad £40 only 15 mins from work, got that lot fitted I opened up the intake duct on the right after reading about it on here. A Golf R in work was relieved of its MST silicone intake hose before it got sold, Maintenance was next up as the car was missing its service book ordered up the following: Castol Edge engine oil and a oil filter Vag Dsg oil and filter Haldex Oil Discs and pads for the front New Battery Work has been mental so id not had chance to get the above sorted so it sat in the house for a few weeks, luckily I have cars from work to drive. I have never been a fan of the Cadiz wheels so they had to go however 4 brand new pilot sport 4s where fitted, hmm what to do. We have loads of wheels in work and there happened to be a set of 18" audi A6 wheels sat about, nothing fancy but they are free and you'd never see them on a golf R. To fit them some spigot rings are needed so they where bought and again in work was some 15mm spacers kicking about, ill have them thank you please. There was still some money left over from the sale of the fiesta so in my head I thought well if I went stage 1 I'd only want to go stage 2 eventually. I have been down the Decat route years ago and I didn't fancy that so my old faithful facebook market place was hit up. Scorpion sports cat down pipe £250 BCS de res anti drone pipe £50 That will help out for my eventual stage 2 route whilst I was driving about I spotted some brand new Vogtland Lowering springs for £110 so they were duly stuffed in the boot. You'll see a trend on this thread if anything comes into work with any bits on they will soon be removed and stock parts get refitted perks of the job eh.. Yet another R comes into work with some fancier bits on. Alloy paddle shift extensions Racing line turbo elbow Racing line turbo muffler delete Yep you guessed it they are now fitted to my car the stars had aligned and there was some time to get my car serviced and the other bits fitted. I mentioned earlier that there was no service book with the car so id panicked a little thinking it'd been neglected. However other than the engine oil being black im happy to say the haldex oil and gauze was clean along with the dsg oil. Regards to the down pipe fitting id watched a few videos on old YouTube. What passed me by is most videos are American ones so id missed the fact that those being Lhd means the down pipe doesn't get hung up on the steering rack like they do on the Rhd ones. My pal who's a Vag tech had enough of my ramblings of the videos and decided that the hour we wasted trying to get it out itd be easier to drop the subframe. We did and got it all sorted quickly. Soon enough we moved to the rear end chopped out the resornator put the bcs one in along with the rear springs, we started at 11:30 and where done and getting cleaned up for 18:00. Think that's enough rambling for one night heres some more pics I do admit I'm crap for not taking any more but hey ho. Thanks for reading

Cheers pal I've done a few bits already will update shortly.
