38% capacity is low, not sure why it would start on the second attempt. Have you tried a charger on the battery (connected to the correct negative post, not the battery negative)? Another trick is to drive the car with the heated seat on (just the low setting) this forces the alternator to push out 14.6 volts not the usual 13.6

Getting ready to install Helix sub
Vessy1 replied to 2pointperspective's topic in Modifying your Golf R MK7
I contacted Helix about the codes, they said the 90 codes were for cars that suffered with radio reception issues! I actually like code 21, not specifically for a golf but gave a much improved sound stage. I still use the sub but have ditched the Helix dsp amp and now use an Audison Bit Ten and amplifier, once tuned it is a massive improvement over stock and over the Helix supplied system, has shocked many as to how good it sounds and how powerful it is. -
Hi, Just had alignment carried out after fitting Eibachs and 22 rear Superpro, the car now feels really unstable at fast speeds and heavy braking, backend wants to step out all the time when heavy braking and when going for it the car feels twitchy as hell. Normal motorway speeds feel fine. I’ve put the standard sway back on and the rear end has calmed down but still the car fights left to right when heavy braking, haven’t been able to check high speed. looking at the attached alignment results I’m concerned about the rear toe difference and also how they have got the front camber to become equal, they didn’t move the subframe! going to get it redone again by the same place, they seem to know what they are talking about face to face, any thought as to the setup?

Hi, Tried yesterday to change from the firm setting to the softer setting and physically couldn’t get the standard links to pull back enough to reach the holes, it was also twisting the lower swing arm and nearly touching the back edge!! is this normal or do I have the wrong bar? It’s a 7.5 R I have although I’m sure there is no differences. you can see from the pictures the link lines up perfect with the firmer hole which matches the standard bar. I've removed the bar for now and gone back standard, rear end was very lively during heavy breaking, hoping to get alignment redone as I reckon they screwed it up then refit Superpro (if I can sort this issue!)

Turn off traction (somewhere safe!!) feel if the rears are spinning too, that will test the Haldex! if they are then maybe some decent tyres.

Depends how ‘spirited’ your driving is! mine is running similar power, with new PS4S’s, can get a 4 wheel slide out of a roundabout in the wet if I really want to! Or light up traction control pulling out of a junction if I bury the throttle. not so easy in the dry though!!

Stage 1 1/4 Mile / 0-60 Leaderboard?
Vessy1 replied to George 3G's topic in Modifying your Golf R MK7
Does anybody log any 50-70 (3rd gear) or 70-100 (4th gear) pulls? Takes any launch / grip issues away and is more a real world overtaking scenario. -

Stage 1 1/4 Mile / 0-60 Leaderboard?
Vessy1 replied to George 3G's topic in Modifying your Golf R MK7
Other then Rick’s (Unicorn) stage 1 ECU and TCU the car is completely stock. Amazing figure! Got some slight wheel spin as the road was cold and not the best surface, also just noticed it was slightly uphill! Full weight and 1/2 tank of Tesco 99, will find a better road that isn’t slightly up hill and good for 1/4 & 100-200 and report back. -
I personally would be glad it’s not keyless, have friends in the Met, heard enough stories to make me never want keyless!
-
Eibach pro’s, did the screw mod just in case, haven’t heard any rubbing as yet!! Going from 18” cardiz which were a 7.5 ET49 to these has pushed the wheels out 11mm, I wouldn’t go any more than that, it does look very close!!

Looking great, can I ask what make the wind deflectors are? Easy to fit and do they stop the windows going up fully?

Yes, CM replicas in Gunmetal, ET42’s (website states ET45 but now shipping 42’s) 19x8 with 235/35 PS4S. No spacers

I only just found out that you only need to flick the key round to start (non keyless!!) and let go, no need to hold it in start until the engine is going! everyday is a school day!!

Morning, Just received my new 19” 8j Pretoria style wheels from CM, they have come with an ET42 offset, not the ET45 as advertised, these will be going on a 7.5 R replacing the factory 18” 7.5j ET49 Cardiz. Using the online calculator I’m looking at an 11mm extension on the new wheels, Suspension is currently stock but will be fitting Eibach Pro kit in the next few weeks. Concerned I may have rubbing issues? Hopefully not as I’m sure they will look great, P4S 235’s will be going on but obviously not going to push the go button until I know they will fit ok! Anyone able to confirm they will fit?

Where do I find the forum discount for CM Wheels? Just about to pull the trigger on a set of 19 Prets in gun metal!

Might be of help. Getting dsg cars just right and more like a manual
Vessy1 replied to dj219957's topic in VW Golf R MK7 Chat
Hmmmm, might do, you may see the duty cycle change in different Drive modes, this will confirm if anything does change -
Do the newer 7sp DSG’s not require a service?

Vessy1 replied to dj219957's topic in VW Golf R MK7 Chat
Throttle response definitely changes with driver mode (even more apparent now I’m stage 1) this matches up with changing the drive settings in individual mode, from trying all the different settings it’s apparent To me that ‘Drive’ changes DSG mode, exhaust valves, throttle response and overrun, Haldex I would still consider under the ‘Drive’ category, so maybe it does change the mode? May just be throttle response but I definitely feel the back digging in quicker when pulling away in Race mode, especially when coming out of a junction. is there any way to tell if the Haldex is changing modes, VCDS or OBDEleven? -

Question, does the Haldex setting (quiet, normal, increased traction) not change with car mode? I.e. in race increased traction is active? Read on an Audi forum that it changes on the Quattro. -
Thanks all, tried google and got no answers!!

Anyone else get this? Mine is 7.5 and every time I get fuel it does it, pretty sure it’s a vacuum, cap has no issues being removed so can’t be huge. Removed the cap last night after about 30 mins being parked and no air noise.

Apparently there is something called 95???Remember reading it once in the GTI forums 🤷♂️
