Pigpen
Should GAP insurance by yourself be done prior to delivery or can it be done afterwards assuming you don't write the car off on the way home?
AgentFruit
Should GAP insurance by yourself be done prior to delivery or can it be done afterwards assuming you don't write the car off on the way home? It can be done afterwards if you want to take the risk.
Jaster
Should GAP insurance by yourself be done prior to delivery or can it be done afterwards assuming you don't write the car off on the way home? You should really arrange for the start date to be the day you pick up the car.

Pigpen
ALA comes in at £122.40 with discount code but with a potential additional 12% through quidco (£15) whereas GAPInsurance123 coming in around £111. Is there a preference between these two?
AgentFruit
Presumably you use the final invoice total rather than the price before discount? You have two options - back to invoice or new replacement value. The latter is much safer given the fact that it's much more likely to be more costly to replace in future. It also covers you for the likely eventuality that the 7R has been replaced by the 8R. It's up to you what value you choose but it's sensible to choose list price even though it means an increased premium.

Worth giving them a call before buying gap insurance.
