Some car insurers automatically pay RTI for the first year of a new car anyway so you might not need for the first year (new car replacement). Worth giving them a call before buying gap insurance.

I'm with direct line does anyone have any experience of knowing if that is the case?

From their site

If your car is less than one year old and you are the first and only registered owner, in order to get you back on the road as quickly as possible with the minimum amount of hassle, we will try to offer you a permanent replacement vehicle of the same make and model. If we can't, your claim will be settled based on the market value of your car when the accident happened, less any excess that may apply.

Signed my docs this morning after clarification from my sales guy re the dealer contribution deposit.

I only noticed when I got home that the date of registration next to my registration and VIN number is the 20th of March. Does this mean I would not be able to collect the vehicle before that day or is it just a rough estimation and can be amended if needs be?

I'm with Direct Line. Asked them about exactly this and their reply was that if there wasn't a direct replacement available at the time (which lets face it there won't be with a 6 month waiting list), they'd give you the nearest equivalent. I personally wouldn't want that. They said cash wasn't an option, however even if it was there's no guarantee that you'd be able to get the same discount, or there wouldn't have been a price hike.

I feel your pain. With BW11 about to start I'm being driven to distraction. That's before staring at boats for the next few weeks.

I want my R!!!

Where's yours going to? Mine's Inchcape VW Stockport so I'm guessing it'll be shipped to Grimsby.

I feel a race coming on..!! ;)

Well from my own experience it is an awful one.  The 4 months prior to the Stage 3 are bad enough but after that it's a struggle day to day.  I'm sure work are aware my productivity has dropped to 10% as I'm constantly checking the tracker page - God knows how many times a day!  Weirdly you give up hope and start looking at alternative cars as you convince yourself it isn't coming or you just can't wait any longer.

Sames here. Waiting for the old car to be declared "off finance" before completing on the R. I've been given a number plate so it must be near the dealers. All I talk about is the R.
