StefsGolfR
Hi I’ve got a MK7 Golf R 2015 it’s got dual climate control. I’ve only noticed it today but the passenger side is blowing cold & hot air. Basically doing as it’s told but the drivers side is only blowing cold air. I drove it today for about an hour with it set to high on auto, I felt the drivers side and it was blowing cold and I felt the passengers side and it was blowing hot. I then put them both on cold and the passenger side went cold and the drivers just stayed the same as it was cold. What could the problem be? THANKS IN ADVANCE!
Scotty2hotty
It could be the actuator or a rod from the actuator that controls the flaps to the drivers side that allows it to switch from cold to hot and vice versa.
SpursMadDave
Worse case could be the heater matrix unfortunately which is quite a big job but hopefully something less seriousSent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
StefsGolfR
I was thinking about the heater matrix, but I was just wondering why is the passenger side working fine? Surely if it was the heater matrix neither side would work?
Scotty2hotty
Just now, StefsGolfR said: I was thinking about the heater matrix, but I was just wondering why is the passenger side working fine? Surely if it was the heater matrix neither side would work? I doubt it will be the matrix as I don’t think you would get heat at all. We had an Audi Q3 come in at work with the same problem, the rod that operates the flaps to supply warm/hot  air to the drivers side has popped off. SpursMadDave

delboy01
I have a MKV golf and it has the same problem. I was hoping i didn't have to worry about this issue with my MKVII. I never did get it fixed on the MKV as they wanted to take the dash out and it wasn't worth it to me for the labour cost involved. The odd thing is that sometimes it works for weeks on end then just stops all of a sudden. Hopefully the parts are more accessible on the MKVII.
Maplesyrup
I changed the heater matrix on my mk2 16v after I started getting puffs of steam that smelt of coolant through the vents 😂  It was reported to be an awful job but taking my time I had it all done in an afternoon on a nice day, although the mk7 are more complicated I’d do it again if need
StefsGolfR
I think I have found the problem, this was ticking away as the cable tie must’ve bumped it out of alignment. Hopefully that’s all it’s going to be I’m going to fix it soon! Thanks guys for all your brainpower, I’m surprised how helpful everybody was.

Momo
Hi Stef  Sorry to drag up an old thread! I’m having the exact same issue as you where regardless of the temperature I’ve set, the driver side centre vent, driver window vent and driver footwell always remain ice cold. The passenger centre vent, passenger window vent and passenger footwell all blow warm/hot air or any temperature I set.  Was your issue the gear on the actuator not connected properly? Did this fix the issue for you when you adjusted?  My actuator and gears move and adjust as the temperature dial is adjusted up and down  but they seem be wobbly, not smooth and look like they are a bit fragile when they rotate/move. Not sure if they are all like this as I don’t have a point of reference.  If I post a clear video of this moving back and forth, would someone be kindly be able to confirm if it’s normal or not? You can view it on any mk7 golf without having to remove trims or panels.  Many thanks!
Jimbo85
Replying to an old thread but I’m trying to locate where the blend door is on the golf 7 drivers side. Does anything need to be removed?
