Beading

And it definitely pays off in the long run, retaining value with well maintained paintwork.

That's very true.  Certainly the case when I sold my Mk6 GTI to another enthusiast on another forum.  I never got as far as putting it up for sale, it sold itself on the strength of the well documented level of care (not just detailing) throughout its life, and lived up to that in the flesh. Current owner still sends me pics of it - still looking great too as he looks after it well.

You'd love to meet one of my neighbours. Whenever I wash the car at home, if this one particular guy passes. He will, without fail tell me to get a coating put on it so I don't need to wash it.

Shame he's only ever taken his Focus to what looks like a sanding shop as under direct sunlight it's no better than any other car out there!!

lol the sanding shop! I love this...! Worse than back seat drivers

Exactly. I "made" nearly £2k on the sale of my previous GTI. I'd maintained that really well.

I looked at some of the pictures the dealer put up after I traded it and the beading looked incredible on the wet photos they had. None of the others matched up, not even the new ones

Went and had look a few days after id collected my R, and she was the nicest one on the forecourt

Haha, I don't think I would love to meet your neighbour!  Actually scratch that......I'd love to have a detailing debate with him.  I'd bring my Clulite swirl spotting LED torch with me for the occasion. We could have a 'swirl off' at dusk.
