Beading

I didn't realise you could buy the resin from elsewhere. Have found it much cheaper online from a different supplier, thanks!

Using the outside tap, I could hook up the filter and then plug in a new pressure washer, I would just need to run electricity out to the tap. It just seems really silly to plug in a £40 Karcher to the outside tap when there's a brilliant pressure washer already hooked up anyway. I could plumb it in in on the inside tap and just not do a open hose rinse if all the washing and rinsing was done with filtered water. (Is hot water 0PPM, because the pressure washer can supply hot water so perhaps I don't even need a filter inside if I rinse and snow foam the car using the hot water)

I might see if there is a way I can plumb the water filter in before the split occurs for the inside/outside tap pipes but again, the outside tap is used for front garden and drive way wash duty so seems pointless to waste resin on plants and stuff!

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand the benefits of the system which is why we're getting one. It's just awkward to install in a way that will work properly considering the current set up.  I also have to be careful and respectful that it is his garage and I'm highly lucky to be able to get there when I like and use everything free of charge.

Yes it was really helpful of Gary (Mainframe) to advise that the resin could be bought cheaper on cleaning/window cleaning websites so all credit to him for sharing that and saving a few of us some £££.   :afro:  I think he actually posted up a specific website in a previous post, think I bookmarked it somewhere or future ref.

I totally understand what you mean about respecting that it's your uncle's garage and equipment and he is really kindly letting you benefit at no cost from all his gear and expertise.  Using it for just the final open ended hose rinse (if that's all you can do) is much much better than nothing and will significantly reduce the risk of water spots.  Of course it's preferable to use it for the entire wash but you have to work with what setup is in place at you Detailing Uncle's place and respect that.  I'm sure you sort it all out and see some good results with the filter, however you use it.

No, hot water is no different from cold apart from temperature.  It will still need minerals/dissolved solids filtering out.

Use three 2-way valves such as this example (but get a cheaper one) then you can simply move the valve taps to cut in and cut out the water filter and direct flow from PW to open ended, check out my pro diagram to see what I mean:

Yes, I have skills...before my inbox floods with PM requests.

It's a bit convoluted but it does what you want without adding in anything too taxing. :)

That could pass as one of Leonardo's early diagrams, lol.  You've missed your vocation!

Didn't even know these existed. Definitely a consideration - I'll have to check how the taps are configured when I next go but this could be the fix I need!

You can get multiway ones too. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_5/278-7634779-8224022?url=search-alias%3Doutdoor&field-keywords=4+way+tap+connector&sprefix=4+way%2Coutdoor%2C174

The possibilities are endless. :cheesy:  You just need your uncle to suggest it.

On a separate matter, this thread has gone waay off topic!

Thank you! :)

Leonardo got too hung up on details, he should have toned it down a bit, or used ye olde Visio like everyone else.

*Slight modification to correctly show the beadage...for the sake of keeping on topic:

Leonardo did just fine with detail.  :afro:  Paved the way for many a future artist.  You need to master all the details before you can earn the liberty of throwing them away, simplicity is borne out of complexity (said in my capacity as an ex artist).  :cheesy:

:) I thought I rescued it pretty well, that was some tight beading...took a while to picture...

Well it would be boring if all we did was talk about cars in our little late night soirées.

I like to think it makes people appreciate the original topic even more

You need to do a sketch with wax beading now.  That sketch was too uniform to be wax, obviously Gtechniq beading.  :cheesy:

Either that, or it sends them sweetly off to sleep!

It puts the topic to the top of the unread list. More people read it then!!
