that is absolutely lovely 😍…. If I ever sell my lotus , I already know I want a mint mk1 or mk2 to take its spot . For me probably a mk2 as they just drive so much nicer than a mk1 .

What’s the story with your mk2 Ian ?

Wow! - I used to have one in black (8v) - one of the best cars I ever owned due to it's reliability (sold it after 8 years and 100,000 miles added with only regular servicing, tyres etc).

2CE111A1-8B86-4E8E-9663-385CEA2016EE.jpegI see the Ohlins are fitted 😀👍 You’ll have to report back on those.

My first proper trackday on them tomorrow at Combe. Didn’t really fully get their potential at the The Ring as I didn’t extend the car not knowing the track tbh.

Anyone also get a very strange ticking/ rotational noise  ( like a Stone in the tyre type noise ) from fitting J Hooked discs ? I seem to be getting it . Had the wheels off and a good poke around , all looks right but a very odd noise !

Has it just started all of a sudden?

Is it coming from the front? Could be discs although I’ve never run those. I get a small amount of noise from my discs and brake squeal  with Tarox Competition pads. Unlike their soft Corsa items.

Hows your Ohlins?  They work really well on track and fast road soaking up our crap roads!

im not 100% sure to be honest … could have possibly started when I put the new brakes on. You can’t hear it with the windows up , just when you go along side a wall / fence with the window down . Only starts at around 25mph as well . Very odd ! I have done a bit of searching and it appears the j hooked discs can cause this . It’s from the front and rear I’d say . I also have changed the rears to 350mm 2 piece j hooked as well . I yet to bed the pads in as works been crazy and not been driving it really . Once I’ve bedded them in I’ll see what happens with the noise .

with regards the ohlins , as above not had a massive amount of miles in them and still on my original 15/15 ( so softer settings ) but as you say they really are a quality bit of kit . THE most compliant coilovers kit I’ve ever used , which was a must for me with my road going R

Good stuff

Yeah I agree the damping is so good on poor roads…no bobbing on the front as the springs and dampers are so well matched.

I found if you wound up the damping it takes it to a whole new level especially at my local circuit Castle Combe. At the Ring I found it very daunting being an unknown circuit and no PlayStation experience! I wanted to bring the car home in one piece.

Donnington should be good!
